Position Title Admissions Counselor Position Overview The role is responsible for recruitment, counseling, and evaluation of prospective first‑year students. It serves as a primary representative for UNC Charlotte, facilitating the transition from high school to higher education through building relationships with students, families, and school counselors. The employee manages the full enrollment cycle, providing expert guidance on academic programs and university policies. Location Gage Undergraduate Admissions Center Job Type Permanent - Full‑time, 40 hours per week. Work schedule 8:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday–Friday with evening and weekend hours as needed. Extensive travel required both within North Carolina and occasionally out of state. Salary Range $47,840 – $49,275 Responsibilities Recruit, counsel, and evaluate prospective first‑year and transfer students on admissions requirements, policies, and procedures via in‑person, virtual, phone, and email. Render admissions decisions applying appropriate criteria, using discernment and judgment. Plan and conduct recruitment events and information sessions for prospective students. Travel extensively in North Carolina and occasionally out of state. Manage recruitment territory by visiting high schools, attending college fairs, interacting with diverse student and family populations, and developing relationships with high school counselors. Work non‑traditional hours as needed. Assist with targeted recruitment activities and planning admissions events. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. All degrees must be from accredited institutions. Experience in program and project planning with presentations to large groups. Strong attention to detail in analyzing data and making independent decisions. High level of customer service orientation. Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and representation communication skills; strong work ethic. Professional‑level proficiency in Spanish (written and verbal). Valid driver’s license. Ability to travel in and out of state as needed.
