Advanced Field Role

Compensation: $28 - $40 Per Hour; Based on Location, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

The ideal candidate is located in/around the San Diego territory. 

VivoAquatics is a national commercial aquatics company that manages the water, equipment, and compliance behind some of the most recognized pools and amenity spaces in the country. We pair experienced field technicians with VivoPoint, our proprietary water management and remote monitoring platform, so our teams show up informed and leave a clear record behind. Technicians are the front line of that promise.

The Professional Services Technician II is our advanced field role. You'll own a route of recurring client visits at professionally managed commercial properties, and you'll independently diagnose and resolve issues across chemical automation, sensors, controllers, and circulation systems, install and commission VivoPoint feed systems, and take on new site launches, upgrades, and remediation work. A Technician II determines the root cause of issues, taking a proactive approach to problem solving, as well as recommendations to clients.

This is a strong fit if you already have hands-on technical experience and want to build a specialized, in-demand skill set in commercial aquatics. It's also a good fit if you're in pool service today and want to move from residential or small-commercial work into large, professionally managed properties with real equipment, real standards, and real advancement.

This role is built on doing the fundamentals consistently, at properties where consistency is key and then going further than the fundamentals when a site needs it.

Most days begin with your route already built in VivoPoint, along with remote monitoring data telling you what each site looked like overnight. You'll move between properties — a resort pool complex in the morning, a fitness club and a multifamily community in the afternoon — and each stop follows a rhythm: review the data, walk the site, test the water, service the feed equipment, handle what's in scope, document the visit, and check out with the property contact.

• Real diagnostics, not basic troubleshooting. You resolve intermediate issues across automation, instrumentation, and circulation without escalating.
• Installation, not just repair. You install and commission VivoPoint chemical feed systems, not just service them.
• Solutions, not just status. You bring the Professional Services Manager a diagnosis and a path forward, not just a problem.
• Prevention, not just fixes. You identify patterns across sites and drive corrective action that reduces repeat failures.

• Perform scheduled onsite visits for new and existing clients according to route schedule and contract scope
• Conduct chemical water testing and provide adjustment recommendations to keep bodies of water balanced, safe, and code-compliant
• Handle, transport, store, and apply pool chemicals safely and in accordance with company and site protocols
• Act decisively on out-of-range conditions, and recognize the smaller set of situations that genuinely warrant escalation

• Diagnose and resolve common and intermediate issues across chemical automation, sensors, and controllers
• Calibrate, verify, and troubleshoot probes and related instrumentation to maintain accurate readings and reliable automation
• Troubleshoot and repair VivoPoint-related systems, including controllers, modems, feed devices, tubing, and injectors
• Resolve the majority of field issues independently, escalating only genuinely complex or high-risk situations
• Work confidently with electrical and plumbing systems and power tools in equipment and pump rooms

• Clean, inspect, calibrate, and maintain chemical feed equipment
• Perform installation, repair, and maintenance of VivoPoint chemical feed systems
• Perform repairs and maintenance on circulation systems in addition to pumps, filters, and heaters
• Support new site launches, system upgrades, and remediation work from mobilization through completion
• Apply intimate working knowledge of the VivoAquatics warranty process to ensure parts and labor are handled correctly

• Identify recurring issues across assigned sites and recommend corrective actions that improve long-term performance
• Provide accurate parts and labor estimates covering both repairs and recommended improvements
• Anticipate risks to service continuity at high-visibility properties and raise them before they affect the client

• Record all service visit information in VivoPoint — manual readings, service orders, service reports, equipment profiles, and notes
• Capture photo documentation of jobsites, projects, and completed work
• Communicate directly with managers and billing regarding parts used, job completion, and follow-up needs
• Coordinate with the Professional Services Manager on priorities, site status, risks, and recommended technical solutions
• Interface professionally with property engineering and management teams, explaining technical findings in deliverable way to the client

• Provide informal field support, coaching, and technical guidance to Junior Technician’s
• Share diagnostic approaches and site-specific knowledge that strengthens the wider team
• Assist on larger installations and projects, including parts and equipment pickup and general jobsite support
• Supervisory responsibilities: None — may provide informal field guidance to Junior Technician’s

• Model PPE compliance, safe chemical handling, and professional site conduct at all times
• Represent VivoAquatics professionally on client properties, working alongside engineering, housekeeping, lifeguard, and management staff in a professional & respectful manner
• Maintain thorough working knowledge of each management company's and property's policies and site-specific requirements
• Keep your assigned company vehicle clean, organized, and current on its service schedule
• Manage parts and equipment inventory on your vehicle; pick up materials from supply houses as needed
• Attend required meetings and training sessions

• Strong knowledge of commercial water chemistry and balancing, with the judgment to act decisively on out-of-range conditions
• Strong working knowledge of circulation, filtration, and chemical automation systems
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve most issues without escalation
• Comfort and competence with electrical and plumbing systems and the use of power tools
• Sound estimating judgment — you can scope a job and price it accurately
• Strong interpersonal and customer communication skills — you'll interact directly with property engineers, general managers, and management teams
• Clear written and verbal communication with clients, managers, and billing
• High attention to detail and strong organizational habits; accurate documentation matters as much as the repair itself
• Solid computer and mobile device skills (MS Office / Google Workspace or similar) and comfort learning a new software platform
• Self-direction and reliability — you'll manage your day in the field with limited direct oversight
• A mentoring instinct and the professionalism to represent VivoAquatics on premium properties

• 2–4 years of experience in commercial aquatics or a comparable technical field preferred. We also welcome candidates from adjacent trades — pool service, facilities or building maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, irrigation, water treatment, or military technical roles — who bring comparable diagnostic depth and are ready to specialize
• CPO (Certified Pool Operator) certification required within the first 90 days of employment; scheduled and fully covered by VivoAquatics during onboarding
• Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company insurance standards
• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs, work on your feet, and access equipment rooms, pump rooms, and pool decks
• Comfortable working outdoors in seasonal conditions and in mechanical spaces
• Availability for early morning, weekend, or on-call coverage depending on market and client needs
• Ability to Travel up to 50%, including weekends, overnight, & holidays.
• Must be over the age of 21 and have a valid driver's license that has been valid for at least two years
• Ability to pass a full background check including a driver history report
