Authorization Specialist

Authorization and Benefit Verification Specialist Under the direction of the Insurance Manager, the Authorizations Specialist performs duties directly responsible for obtaining medical authorizations for scheduled and non-scheduled procedures to ensure appropriate reimbursement for patient procedures. Health insurance Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) Life insurance Position Requirements ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Generate and review schedules in accordance with timelines and protocols. Contacts insurance companies, or utilize web-based insurance resources, to obtain verification and authorizations for medical procedures. Communicate with internal departments, referring physicians and patients regarding authorization process and results. Must be able to obtain information to respond to difficult patient and medical insurance inquiries. Monitor status of authorization requests in accordance with internal protocols and initiate follow up as necessary to ensure receipt of established authorization within established time lines.
