Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)

Shores of Worthington is hiring an In-House Full, Part Time or PRN Speech/Language Pathologist to become a part of our team! The purpose of a Speech‑Language Pathologist (SLP) is to assess, diagnose, treat, and provide support to individuals with communication disorders, speech impairments, language delays, voice disorders, fluency disorders, and swallowing difficulties. The primary goals of an SLP are communication improvement, speech clarity and intelligibility, language development, swallowing and feeding function, voice rehabilitation, fluency enhancement, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), collaboration and advocacy. Overall, the purpose of an SLP is to enhance an individual's communication abilities, facilitate functional and effective communication, and improve their overall quality of life. SLPs play a vital role in helping individuals overcome communication challenges and reach their full potential in personal, academic, and professional settings. Responsibilities Assessing and evaluating residents with communication disorders to determine their specific needs. Providing therapy and intervention services to residents with communication disorders. Working with individuals who have experienced communication difficulties due to strokes, traumatic brain injuries, or other neurological disorders. Assessing and treating individuals with swallowing disorders (dysphagia) or feeding difficulties. Recommending and implementing augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems for individuals who are unable to communicate verbally or have severe speech impairments. Staying updated on the latest research and evidence‑based practices in the field through continuing education, attending conferences, and participating in professional development activities. Qualifications & Skills A master's degree in Speech‑Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders is generally required to practice as an SLP. Certification or licensing from a recognized professional organization, such as the American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association (ASHA). Valid professional license and registration for the state of MN and be able to practice independently. Experience with long‑term care and/or geriatric care is preferred.
