JOB SUMMARY: The Landscape Maintenance position works under the general supervision of the Landscape Services Supervisor. This position is responsible for general care and maintenance of school grounds, trees and landscaped areas, and provide labor support as needed. Work hours are Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM- 3:30 PM. Must be able to work flexible hours and weekends, as necessary. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Operate all tools and equipment necessary for landscape maintenance. Ensure proper care and maintenance of all equipment and tools used for landscape maintenance. Tools include, but are not limited to mowers, trimmers, leaf blowers, and pressure washers. Perform basic vehicle and equipment maintenance and repairs. Cut grass; prune shrubs and trees; clean gutters, sidewalks, and roads. Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides as needed and directed by the supervisor. Assist with trash pickup throughout campus. Keep all roads, walkways, paved, and concrete areas clean, clear, and safe of debris. Install and repair complete landscape irrigation systems. Regular and predictable attendance at work. Additional Duties: Assist with set-up and cleaning tables, chairs, tarps, tents, etc. for school functions. Provide labor services to move furniture, fixtures, and equipment. Perform any duties required to support the operation and function of the School. HEALTH and SAFETY Participate in the development of a safe and healthy workplace. Comply with all workplace procedures to ensure the health and safety of you and others. Report any safety concerns or hazards immediately to your supervisor. Report any injury or illness immediately to your Supervisor and Human Resources. Do not place others at risk by any act or omission. Do not willfully or recklessly interfere with safety equipment, practices, or procedures. Do not disable or by-pass any safety devices on tools or equipment. Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviors. Identify, assess, and control hazards within your area of responsibility. Ensure that tools/equipment/supplies are properly stocked and maintained. Maintain relevant knowledge of safety laws. Mandatory reporting of sexual abuse to law enforcement or child protective services, and Human Resources. Sexual abuse includes child molestation, any actual or alleged illegal or otherwise wrongful sexual conduct with a minor, and serial sexual misconduct, any actual or alleged illegal or otherwise wrongful sexual conduct with more than one victim; and committed by or alleged to have been committed by any perpetrator who is not a student of an included entity. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Possess a valid driver's license to operate a golf cart. Able to lift and carry up to 70 pounds. Knowledge of standard methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in landscape maintenance. Able to accurately follow verbal and written instructions. Able to work as part of a team or independently when needed. Maintain a professional and polished appearance that aligns with the school’s standards and values. Have a service-oriented attitude and is able to work well with faculty, staff, and the general public. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Our campus consists of multiple buildings on 44 hilly acres that requires walking and working on hills, slopes, and fields. Will need to bend, lift, and carry items. Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s) such as for operating weed whackers, hedge trimmers, pole saws, lawn mowers, leaf blowers, etc. and picking up leaves, branches, and trash. For safety reasons, it is important to see and hear within normal parameters and possess the ability to move around without difficulty in order to work efficiently. Pre-hire and periodic physical functional capacity tests will be given by a third party to ensure the employee can perform the tasks safely and for the safety of others. MENTAL DEMANDS: On a daily basis must frequently problem solve, organize, plan, and clearly communicate. Must take the initiative to ensure a clean, safe campus. Must be able to stay motivated and focused performing routine daily tasks efficiently and with high level of quality. EQUIPMENT USE All hand and power tools associated with landscape maintenance. Golf cart. WORKING CONDITIONS Outdoor, Loud Noise, Hot and Cold Temperatures performing physical labor - daily.
