Campus Safety Dispatcher
$22.5 per hourKeene State College
Keene State College Department of Campus Safety seeks part‑time dispatchers for the third shift (9pm‑7am). Shifts are flexible within this period and include at least one weekend day per week. Pay starts at $22.50 plus increases based on experience. The role is non‑benefitted and part of a 24‑hour communications center. Responsibilities Answer in‑person and electronic inquiries and questions. Answer radio calls from officers in the field and dispatch Campus Safety officers via radio. Enter calls for service in the Computer‑Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and use the college’s student and employee database. Use the telephone to contact emergency services, Community Directors, and other campus partners. Respond to calls received on blue‑light emergency phones (65 % of duties). Monitor access control, alarm and closed‑circuit television monitoring equipment (30 % duties). Review CCTV to assist officers on patrol. Issue replacement OWL Card identification. Maintain accountability of officers on calls. Answer questions related to parking and campus events (5 % duties). Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience Must be at least 21 years old. High School Diploma or equivalent. Proven interpersonal and written communication skills. Computer proficiency and ability to learn various computer applications. Effective multitasking skills. Ability to interact verbally and electronically via telephone, email and two‑way radio. Ability to assess situations and determine the appropriate response. Successful background review, including criminal and driving history. Required Licenses & Certifications Valid driver’s license. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Acceptable typing skills – approximately 40 words per minute. Microsoft Office products, including but not limited to Excel, Word and SharePoint. Attention to detail. Teamwork and multitasking skills. Strong organizational skills. Logical thinking and quick assessment of situations. Good decision‑making. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Ability to keep confidential information confidential. Preferred Qualifications Prior dispatching experience (helpful but not required). Experience in customer service or the security field (helpful but not required). Higher education experience.
