Staff Accountant

Perform core accounting functions - including reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting support - in accordance with established accounting policies, internal controls, and monthly close deadlines. Work is primarily transactional and support-level, performed under the review and guidance of senior accounting staff, with increasing autonomy as proficiency develops.All potential candidates should read through the following details of this job with care before making an application.ResponsibilitiesPrepare and post journal entries to the general ledgerReconcile cash sheet weekly and balance sheet accounts monthlyAssist with month-end and year-end close processesSupport accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as neededPrepare supporting schedules for financial statements and audits as neededAssist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reportsHelp maintain accurate fixed asset and depreciation recordsEnsure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policiesAssist with sales tax filings and other regulatory reportingIdentify and resolve discrepancies in financial recordsSupport external auditors during annual audits by providing requested documentationPerform other accounting duties and special projects as assignedAssist with Cost Accounting as proficiency developsPreferred Education/Experience/SkillsBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (required)1 to 4 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environmentAbility to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting PrinciplesProficient in MS Excel and ERP softwareStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong attention to detail and accuracyStrong organizational and time-management skillsSense of urgency and ability to deliver expected resultsAbility to research, compile, analyze, and interpret dataAbility to work independently and meet deadlinesPhysical RequirementsThis role is typically performed in an office setting with standard business hours. Occasional overtime may be required during month-end close, quarter-end close, and audit periods. While performing the duties of this job one would occasionally be required to stand, sit, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk, and hear.
