Nevada City School of the Arts (NCSOTA), a TK-8 charter school in operation since 1994, is seeking a dynamic, culturally aware, stimulating and highly qualified Food Service Production Assistant to join our team. JOB TITLE: FOOD SERVICE PRODUCTION ASSISTANTSCHEDULE: 2026-27 School Year – Full-timeWAGE: $20.60 - $25.77 per hour, depending on experience DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESUnderstands and is able to communicate the philosophy of the Nourish NCSA Nutrition Services Program.Prepares ingredients according to the planned menu and prescribed recipes as needed.Operates dish machine, pot washing area and maintains organized storage area of all equipment used in the production facility.Participates in the proper receiving, storage and inventorying of all foodstuffs, paper, chemicals and supplies according to the Standard Operating Procedures.Wraps, labels and rotates prepared food as assigned.Maintains the cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen, cafeteria and storage areas including, but not limited to, walk-ins, refrigeration, freezers, dry storage and cafeteria area.Records and maintains temperature logs as as assigned.Operates and maintains food service equipment such as stoves, ovens, mixers, food processor and commercial dishwashers.Establishes and maintains positive relations with internal and external customers, including students, staff, and school administration, parents, and community members.Performs related duties as assignedReport all unsafe working conditionsAbide by all NCSOTA Employee Handbook guidelines.Completion of mandatory training (video & in-person) within 6 weeks of employment and every year thereafter.Perform all other duties as needed or assigned. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSUREWillingness to learn and work hardAble to perform basic mathematical calculationsMust obtain Serve Safe Certificate or State/County Food Handler's Permit within 30 days of employment WORKING CONDITIONSEnvironmentIndoor/outdoor work environmentInfrequent exposure to seasonal weather extremesDriving a vehicle to conduct work PHYSICAL DEMANDS (with or without reasonable accommodations)Frequent repetition of movement of arms and handsFrequent lift up to 20 poundsRegularly move up to 50 poundsInfrequent lift up to 50 poundsFrequent pushing and pullingDexterity of hands and fingersSeeing to read a variety of materialsSitting or standing for extended periods of timeHearing and speaking to exchange information EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSUREHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredMinimum 2 years working with children, preferably in a school settingConflict resolution training a plus OTHER REQUIREMENTS: These requirements must be met prior to beginning employment and will be requested upon job offer acceptance.Fingerprint and Background clearanceValid Tuberculosis clearance and every four years thereafterCPR/First Aid Certification within 45 days of employment and every two years thereafterCompletion of mandatory training (video & in-person) within 6 weeks of employment and every year thereafter. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
