Mechanical Engineer IIIAs a Mechanical Engineer III you will perform engineering tasks under minimal guidance that are varied and complex which require troubleshooting and interpretation of data, development of new test methods or procedures and are used for a variety of situations. Plans, executes, and organizes detailed design development as part of major projects of significant scope.You will do this byConducts and/or specifies complex tests using advanced techniques to resolve customer concerns/problems; prepares technical reports based on resultsApplies advanced computer-aided engineering analysis techniques to resolve customer concerns/problemsAdheres to new product development processes as it relates to concept analysis, business case, product development, pre-production and post launch steps; recommends methods of manufacture during the design of new products and design modifications or process changes based on cost/design studiesModifies analysis techniques when necessary to solve more complex problemsEvaluates product failures using advanced engineering techniquesCompiles and analyzes test results; formulates conclusions and makes appropriate recommendationsPartners with project management, business units, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, etc.Recommends improvements and/or modifications for sequence of operations, equipment utilization and related mattersDevelops engineering test standards where applicablePerforms other duties as assignedQualificationsBachelors Degree in Engineering or related fieldFive years of professional engineering experienceComprehensive knowledge of engineering concepts, practices and procedures and other internal engineering standards and systemsStrong knowledge of engineering systemsStrong knowledge of company and competitor’s products and technical abilities of suppliersWell-developed understanding of company processes and procedures including, but not limited to new product development processExcellent interpersonal skills Strong written communication skills necessary for technical report writingFluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or locationBriggs & Stratton, headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, provides innovative products and diverse power solutions to help people get work done.
