Heavy Lift / Transport Rigger

Full-time

Edwards Moving and Rigging

Heavy Lift / Transport Rigger

Nationwide Projects

Some people see a 300-ton piece of equipment and wonder how anyone could possibly move it.

You start thinking about the rigging, the equipment, the load distribution, and how to get the job done safely.

That's the difference between someone who works around heavy equipment and someone who understands heavy rigging.

Edwards Moving & Rigging is looking for experienced Heavy Lift / Heavy Transport Riggers who know what it takes to lift, move, position, and transport equipment that most people wouldn't know where to begin moving.

Transformers. Generators. Turbines. Massive industrial machinery.

The equipment is big. The challenges are real. And the work requires a level of skill, preparation, and teamwork that doesn't come from simply showing up on a jobsite.

If you've spent your career learning how to move the things most people can't, we'd like to talk with you.

What You'll Do

you'll work alongside experienced rigging professionals on challenging industrial projects throughout the United States.

Depending on the project, you'll:

  • Perform heavy rigging operations involving lifting, moving, positioning, loading, and installing oversized industrial equipment.
  • Assist with setting up, operating, and dismantling hydraulic and electric gantry systems.
  • Perform or support hydraulic jack and slide operations, including equipment setup, cribbing, blocking, and controlled load movement.
  • Assist with setup, loading, unloading, and operation of Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs), Goldhofer systems, and other specialized transport equipment.
  • Work with hydraulic jacks, skidding systems, chain falls, hoists, shackles, slings, spreader beams, and other heavy-lifting equipment.
  • Support machinery moving, plant relocations, industrial equipment installations, and shutdown projects.
  • Assist with heavy haul operations, including load preparation, securement, and positioning.
  • Read and interpret rigging plans, engineered lift plans, equipment specifications, and jobsite instructions.
  • Apply proper load distribution, center-of-gravity, cribbing, blocking, and load stabilization practices.
  • Inspect rigging equipment, hydraulic components, and specialized transport equipment.
  • Identify hazards and communicate concerns before they become problems.
  • Work closely with Superintendents, Foremen, Operators, and fellow Riggers to execute projects safely.
  • Assist with equipment preparation, maintenance, mobilization, and demobilization.
  • Travel to project locations throughout the country.

This isn't ordinary rigging work.

It's specialized equipment, complex projects, and the responsibility that comes with moving extremely heavy loads safely.

Heavy Rigging Takes More Than Muscle - It Takes Experience

Experienced Riggers know that moving heavy equipment requires more than strength. It takes technical knowledge, careful planning, and sound judgment.

You understand:

  • Load distribution and center of gravity – How weight affects stability and movement.
  • Cribbing and blocking – How to safely support and stabilize heavy loads.
  • Hydraulic systems – How to use jacking and lifting equipment for controlled movement.
  • Rigging equipment – How to select, inspect, and use the right tools.
  • Engineered plans – The importance of following specifications and procedures.
  • Communication – Keeping everyone informed and safe throughout the move.

Experience isn't just about years on the job. It's about your knowledge, how you apply it, and the trust your team places in your judgment.

What We're Looking For

  • Hands-on experience in heavy industrial rigging, specialized machinery moving, or heavy transport operations.
  • Practical experience with at least one specialized system, such as hydraulic/electric gantries, jack and slide systems, SPMTs, or hydraulic platform trailers.
  • Strong knowledge of rigging techniques, load handling, weight distribution, center of gravity, cribbing, blocking, and stabilization.
  • Experience using slings, shackles, hoists, chain falls, hydraulic jacks, and other lifting equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow engineered lift plans and technical instructions.
  • Experience working safely around oversized industrial equipment, with the ability to identify hazards and raise concerns.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and commitment to quality workmanship and safety procedures.
  • Physically capable of working in demanding industrial, construction, and outdoor environments.
  • Willingness to travel nationwide and work extended hours, weekends, or flexible schedules as required.

Even Better If You Have Experience With:

  • Hydraulic/electric gantry systems, jack and slide operations.
  • Goldhofer trailers, SPMTs, and specialized heavy haul equipment.
  • Transformer, generator, turbine, and industrial machinery moves.
  • Machinery moving, plant relocations, and equipment installations.
  • Multi-point lifting and engineered lift plans.
  • Barge loading and roll-on/roll-off operations.
  • OSHA training, rigging certifications, or relevant safety qualifications.

Heavy Rigging Experience Matters

You don't need to know every system we use, but solid heavy rigging experience is essential. If you're skilled in specialized lifting or transport and want to expand your expertise, this could be a great opportunity.

Travel Is Part of the Job

Our projects take us nationwide, wherever our customers need us.

Expect travel, varied jobsites, flexible schedules, and occasional extended hours or weekend work.

If you enjoy challenging projects, specialized equipment, and variety in your work, this is an opportunity to put your skills to the test and continue growing in your trade.

Why Edwards?

Because if you've spent years learning how to move the things most people can't, you should have the opportunity to put those skills to work.

At Edwards Moving & Rigging, we specialize in heavy lifting, specialized transportation, machinery moving, and complex rigging solutions throughout the United States.

Our crews work on projects that require specialized equipment, technical expertise, preparation, and sound judgment.

At Edwards, you can expect:

  • Big equipment and bigger challenges. Work on complex industrial projects involving heavy lifting and specialized transport.
  • A variety of specialized systems. Gain exposure to gantry systems, jack and slide operations, SPMTs, Goldhofer equipment, and other heavy-lift and transport methods.
  • Experienced people. Work alongside professionals who understand the trade and the importance of executing safely.
  • An opportunity to expand your skills. Build on the experience you already have while working around different specialized systems and equipment.
  • Variety. Different projects, locations, equipment configurations, and challenges.
  • Real responsibility. Your knowledge, preparation, and judgment contribute directly to the success of the operation.
  • Work worth being proud of. When the equipment is safely in place, you'll know you helped accomplish something extraordinary.

We Know the Difference Between Someone Who Works Around Heavy Equipment and Someone Who Knows How to Move It.

You understand the importance of proper rigging, safe setup, load distribution, cribbing, and clearances to ensure every move is controlled and safe.

And why the entire crew needs to understand the plan before the first move begins.

You know that moving a load a few feet can require more preparation than moving it hundreds of miles. And when the move begins, experience, communication, and attention to detail are essential.

We're looking for experienced Heavy Lift or Heavy Transport Riggers who take pride in their trade, understand their equipment, and thrive on complex industrial projects.

Massive loads. Specialized equipment. Complex moves. Skilled teams.

Bring your experience. Let's move something extraordinary.
