Staff Accountant

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Staff Accountant for a contract assignment with one of our premier Financial Services clients in Urbandale, IA. Responsibilities include:

• Providing accounting support requiring familiarity with and experience in accounting practices

• Performing disbursements, billing, applying payments and administrative system accounting reports and/or consolidated statements
• Analyzing and maintaining accounts and/or client insured records
• Preparing and analyzing various accounting reports including variances, disbursement, billing, and statements; ensuring timely and accurate processing
• Performing variation and trend analysis for key accounts or reports; processing disbursements to insured records; processing billing and statement reports to clients or insureds
• Assisting with the development, implementation and documentation of internal and external accounting and operating policies, procedures and process improvements for general accounting functions
• Ensuring compliance with corporate policies, carrier agreements, SOX procedures, SSAE16 procedures, tax regulations, local GAAP and US GAAP and local statutory regulations (as applicable) regarding financial matters

Required Skills:

• Associate's degree
• 1-3 years of experience
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency with MS Excel
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple systems and tasks
• Attention to detail

Preferred Skills:

• Prior finance or accounting experience
• Good organizational skills & teamwork
