About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: VA License required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Epic charting experience required Description: The role is for a registered nurse specialized in medical-surgical and telemetry. The unit consists of 36 beds focusing on telemetry and surgical patients. The average daily census is between 20 to 24 patients. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 6 patients per nurse. Candidates must have experience in managing central and peripheral lines. Experience with telemetry monitoring is essential. Knowledge of BiPAP/CPAP management and blood product administration is required. Candidates should be familiar with wound care and wound vac management. Feeding tube care and management are also part of the required skills. Isolation precautions and PPE compliance are essential. Telemetry experience is necessary, as is the ability to conduct peripheral line care. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in oxygen administration and management of high flow nasal cannula. Nurse responsibilities will include administering medications and managing surgical drains. Continuous monitoring of vital signs and assessment of patient conditions are essential duties. Interdisciplinary support will include collaboration with physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Floating may be requested based on the needs of the facility. All staff must comply with educational requirements regarding NIH and stroke education. Prior permanent employees must have been gone for a minimum of 6 months before being re-hired. Request for time off should be kept to a minimum during the assignment. Candidates should have specialty experience within the last year.
