Ultrasound Technologist

Position Summary The Ultrasound Technologist performs general, OB‑GYN, and vascular examinations in a variety of settings and on patients of all ages. They evaluate images to ensure acceptable diagnostic quality and adhere to ThedaCare safety and quality standards while using proper ergonomic techniques. Key Accountabilities Apply knowledge of anatomy and pathophysiology and critical thinking to implement appropriate imaging techniques using established protocols to acquire required images. Adapt to changing or unusual circumstances and care for patients and families across various settings to ensure comfort and safety. Use critical thinking skills and maintain order accuracy when triaging and prioritizing patients. Complete documentation accurately and on time in accordance with department policy and procedure, including proper image management and electronic medical record entries. Practice safety at all times, including adherence to ALARA principles for radiation safety, use of mobilization and immobilization devices, safe patient handling, infection prevention practices (hand hygiene, PPE) and compliance with regulatory bodies. Assist providers in diagnostic and interventional procedures. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program with hospital experience. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Registered or registry‑eligible with ARDMS, ARRT (Ultrasound), or CCI; must be registered within six months of hire if registry‑eligible. Physical Demands Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, pulling) and lift up to 50 pounds without assistance. Frequent exposure to bloodborne pathogens while performing job duties. Work Environment Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments; occasional exposure to moving machinery, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, electrical shock. Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents. Occasional high noise level. Frequent contacts with aggressive patients. Use of computers and repetitive motion of hands and arms during scanning.
