Purpose:

The main function of a Solution Architect is to develop and deliver pragmatic business solutions that fulfill specific business objectives and service level agreements. This while balancing important concerns such as adherence to established practices, alignment with enterprise strategy, accountability to Prime’s financial objectives, and working in a collaborative team environment

Value Proposition/Selling Points (Market place advantages):

The Solution Architect will potentially be involved with multiple high-profile initiatives for Prime over the next six to twelve months. Some of these have accelerated timelines. The Solution Architect role is key for defining and aligning the go-forward architecture. Not having this resource will put initiatives at risk

Hours and Training:

Hours: Standard – 40 hours/week

Contract Duration: 12 months (extension possible); Contract for hire possible at 6 months.

Location(s): Prime Landing – Eagan, MN (Primary)

Remote possible within approved states

Position Overview:

Daily Responsibilities/Job Description:

• Lead creation of conceptual and logical specifications for all layers of solution (people, process, technology and information) through collaboration with business, enterprise, application, security and infrastructure architects
• Develop architectures to include the software, hardware, and communications to support initial requirements as well as provide for present and future cross-functional requirements and interfaces
• Ensures these systems are compatible and in compliance with the standards for Prime IT architectures, and profiles of standards as they apply to the implementation of developed architectures and specific to the solution for the platform, integration with other systems and any external interfaces
• Responsible for collaborating with enterprise architecture to develop enterprise artifacts for reuse by subsequent projects

Interaction level with Management/Team Members:

• Work closely with Software Engineers and Technical Leaders to explore opportunities for improvement.
• Interact with IT and business management. Interaction and collaboration with Team Members is a must and must be comfortable in engaging in both technical and business discussions
• Engage in and assist with technology spikes to evaluate new technology additions or existing technology expansion.

Skills Overview:

Required:

1. 5+ years of service-oriented solution architecture experience working with Applications, Data, Services and API initiatives
2. Experience defining a variety of solution types, such as new system builds, legacy enhancements, application rebuild, build vs. buy analysis, integrating COTS software packages, Software as a Service or Platform as a Service as components of the solution
3. Ability to apply fundamental concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on technical assignments
4. Direct experience with Agile Lean Architecture
5. Strong collaborator with business and technical colleagues, adept at building rapport

Additional Qualifications/years of experience:

• 10+ years of work experience in IT, including 5 years in software development or application architecture
• Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required. MBA or other related advanced degree preferred
• Experience as a Solution Architecture, Application Architecture and Architecture Patterns
• Experience with broad technology delivery, including custom development using various development languages; Event Driven Architecture and Mesh Architecture
• Experience with driving technical planning and solutions for software portfolio, including authoring or managing the development of software designs, managing vendor evaluations, and justifying technical recommendations
• Experience with providing technical leadership, mentoring on software engineering design, development, and frameworks, analyzing alternatives, and presenting technical options to leads and clients
• Experience in the Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) and/or Health Care domain
• Experience working with big data and analytics
• Experience working with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or similar Agile Processes
