The Custodian plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors within the educational facility. This position ensures that all school buildings and grounds are properly cleaned, sanitized, and maintained to support a healthy learning atmosphere. The custodian is responsible for performing routine cleaning tasks and minor repairs to uphold the school's standards of hygiene and safety. By proactively addressing maintenance issues and responding promptly to cleaning needs, the custodian helps minimize disruptions to the educational process. Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in custodial or janitorial work preferred but not required.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in an educational or institutional setting.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and procedures.
• Basic handyman skills for minor repairs and maintenance.
• Ability to operate floor cleaning machines and other specialized equipment.
• Good communication skills to interact effectively with school staff and students.

Responsibilities:

• Perform daily cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal in classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas.
• Sanitize surfaces and restrooms regularly to maintain health and safety standards.
• Conduct routine inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs and report or address minor repairs such as changing light bulbs, fixing door locks, or unclogging drains.
• Set up and arrange furniture and equipment for school events, meetings, and activities as needed.
• Ensure proper storage and use of cleaning supplies and equipment in compliance with safety regulations.
• Assist with snow removal, lawn care, and other outdoor maintenance tasks during appropriate seasons.
• Respond promptly to emergency cleaning requests and spills to maintain a safe environment.
• Collaborate with school administration and maintenance teams to support facility operations and improvements.
