Hiring Agency General Government Cabinet | Department of Workers\' Claims Location 500 Mero Street 3rd Floor Frankfort, KY 40601 USA Description The Kentucky Department of Workers’ Claims has exclusive jurisdiction over workers' compensation matters and is the agency responsible for administering claims and ensuring compliance with the workers’ compensation provisions contained in KRS Chapter 342. The Department is committed to improving service and reducing costs to its stakeholders in the Commonwealth. The Department of Workers’ Claims is seeking to fill a Workers’ Compensation Specialist position located within the Office of Administrative Law Judges. This position requires performance of duties within the state of Kentucky. At the time employment commences, the employee need to be able to commute to and work in Frankfort, Kentucky. The preferred candidate for this position will demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, and work cooperatively with a team, have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and a history of working with customer service, databases and reports. Job Duties Include Review and analyze Form 110 settlement agreements for statutory compliance. Assist the CALJ to ensure the agreement conforms to the provisions of KRS Chapter 342 by ensuring consistency of calculations to medical reports, accuracy of calculations, and the protection of interests of the unrepresented claimants. Prepare Order expressing disposition of agreement, service on all parties. Calculate and determine income benefits due for each case based on multiple factors, determining accuracy and adequacy of the settlement that has been presented. Determine the number of weeks the injured worker is eligible for income benefits by reviewing the impairment rating (if applicable), the AMA factor, wage info., extent of impairment and disability, and work status of the injured worker. For non-compliant or questionably compliant agreements, prepare a memo to CALJ to assist in his review of the agreement. Process Form 11\'s by confirming proper documentation is provided, reviewing case history, update information in Litigation Management System (LMS). Analyze old case files to determine how benefits were awarded, version of KRS used for award, and if benefits remain payable, how long the survivor is entitled to receive them. At conclusion of pre-determined time, review pleading with CALJ; prepare Order. When settlement includes a waiver, assist CALJ in the review of the adequacy of the amount allocated for each waiver by thoroughly reviewing the medical history of the case and the projected future treatment needs of the injured worker based on medical reports and records. Review narrative section on Form 110 to confirm language is consistent with terms of settlement and within scope of KRS 342. Daily monitoring of Agreements work queue in LMS, where Form 110\'s are submitted. To include completion of the assign claim number function, confirmation all parties are added in LMS, and generation of acknowledgment letter with service on all parties. Serve as liaison with ALJ\'s, attorneys, claimants, adjusters, and others by answering inquiries on settlement process and requests for survivor benefits. Performs other duties as assigned. The successful candidate will be required to safeguard and secure all confidential and sensitive information and will be required to complete training, sign acknowledgements, follow all policies, and adhere to all statutes and requirements pertaining to the safeguarding and security of confidential and sensitive information while employed and after employment ends. Minimum Requirements EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor\'s degree. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have four years of professional administrative experience in worker\'s compensation, the administration, processing, and/or adjusting of workers compensation claims or medical claims, or legal or paralegal work in the preparation, administration or processing of workers compensation cases.
