Summary:

As the Parts Manager at Scotty’s Contracting and Stone, you will play a key role in supporting the reliability and efficiency of our equipment fleet and Shop operations. This position is responsible for overseeing parts purchasing, inventory, vendor relationships, and the timely availability of parts needed to maintain and repair our equipment.

The Parts Manager will work closely with Shop leadership, mechanics, vendors, and suppliers to make informed purchasing decisions that balance cost, quality, availability, and operational needs. This role requires a relationship-focused and resourceful individual who can identify opportunities for cost savings while utilizing technology, data, and emerging tools, including artificial intelligence (AI), to improve purchasing, research, inventory management, and overall efficiency. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the purchasing, receiving, organization, and inventory of equipment parts and Shop supplies.
• Maintain appropriate inventory levels to support equipment maintenance and repairs while minimizing excess or obsolete inventory.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, dependable service, and timely access to parts.
• Research and compare pricing, suppliers, warranties, and purchasing options to identify opportunities for cost savings while maintaining quality and reliability.
• Work closely with Shop leadership and mechanics to understand parts needs, respond to urgent requests, and help minimize equipment downtime.
• Manage returns, warranties, cores, exchanges, and vendor credits and maintain accurate purchasing and inventory records.
• Utilize technology, data, and emerging tools, including AI, to improve parts research, purchasing decisions, inventory management, and overall efficiency.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe parts area while following company safety standards. 

Qualifications:

• Clean driving record and ability to pass an MVR check
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in parts, purchasing, equipment, or inventory management preferred.
• Previous experience in parts, purchasing, inventory management, heavy equipment, fleet maintenance, or preferred related field.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment, construction equipment, and associated parts preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively with vendors, mechanics, supervisors, and management.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with attention to detail.
• Strong computer skills with the ability and willingness to learn and utilize inventory systems, technology, and emerging tools.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple responsibilities, and adapt to changing Shop and equipment needs 
  

Physical Requirements:

• Lifting: Ability to lift and move parts, supplies, and materials up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally more as required.
• Stamina: Capability to stand, walk, and move throughout the Shop and parts areas for extended periods.
• Manual Dexterity: Ability to handle parts, inventory materials, computers, mobile devices, and other equipment effectively.
• Bending and Squatting: Ability to bend, squat, kneel, and reach as needed when handling or organizing parts and materials.
• Climbing: Ability to safely access storage areas and equipment when necessary.
• Mobility: Capability to move throughout Shop, warehouse, yard, and equipment areas and navigate uneven surfaces as required.
• Vision: Adequate vision to identify parts, read part numbers, review inventory information, and utilize computer systems.
• Hearing: Ability to communicate effectively and remain aware of equipment, vehicles, alarms, and otheractivity within a Shop environment. 

Candidates should be prepared to work in an active Shop/Equipment environment and may occasionally be exposed to varying weather conditions, noise, equipment, grease, dust, and other conditions commonly associated with heavy equipment maintenance operations. Appropriate personal protective equipment is required when necessary.
