Construction Project EngineerPosition Overview

We are seeking a Construction Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of commercial construction and real estate development projects. This position works closely with project management and field teams to keep projects organized, documented, on schedule, and financially on track.

The Project Engineer will coordinate information between internal teams, subcontractors, consultants, ownership, and other project partners while helping manage documentation, scheduling, costs, and project closeout activities.

This opportunity is well suited for someone who is highly organized, comfortable working with multiple priorities, and interested in building a long-term career in commercial construction and development.

Key ResponsibilitiesProject & Team Support

• Partner with Project Managers and field leadership throughout all phases of construction.
• Help coordinate project activities from initial startup through final turnover.
• Track key milestones, deadlines, and overall project progress.
• Organize project meetings, document discussions, and communicate follow-up items.
• Maintain orderly and up-to-date project files and records.

Construction Documentation

• Review project plans, specifications, drawings, and related construction documents.
• Coordinate and track RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and document revisions.
• Maintain records of changes and instructions issued throughout the project.
• Support preparation of change documentation and related project tracking.
• Assemble required completion, turnover, warranty, and closeout materials.

Budget & Cost Support

• Assist Project Managers with project budgets and ongoing cost monitoring.
• Review subcontractor billing and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate and track purchase orders.
• Help prepare recurring project cost information and reports.
• Monitor potential cost changes, contingency items, and outstanding change requests.

Scheduling & Subcontractor Coordination

• Maintain and update project schedules.
• Track critical dates and construction milestones.
• Coordinate activities involving subcontractors and vendors.
• Identify potential scheduling conflicts or delays and communicate concerns to the appropriate project team members.

Field & Site Coordination

• Work closely with Superintendents to stay informed of field conditions and construction progress.
• Visit active project sites as needed to review progress and workmanship.
• Assist with coordinating inspections, testing, and other project requirements.
• Help validate completed work associated with contractor and subcontractor payment requests.
• Support punch-list completion and turnover activities.

Project Communication

Act as a central point of coordination among various project stakeholders, which may include:

• Property owners and development teams
• Architects and engineering consultants
• General contractors and subcontractors
• Suppliers and vendors
• Local municipalities and inspection authorities
• Property management personnel
• Internal project and development teams

Project Controls

Maintain accurate tracking tools and documentation related to:

• Requests for Information
• Submittals and shop drawings
• Project changes
• Drawing and plan revisions
• Meeting documentation
• Punch-list items
• Project completion records
• Warranty information

Safety & Compliance

Assist the project team in maintaining compliance with applicable:

• Construction and building codes
• OSHA requirements
• Site and company safety policies
• Local regulations and permitting requirements
• Contractual plans, specifications, and project standards

QualificationsEducation

Bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas, or a closely related discipline:

• Construction Management
• Civil Engineering
• Construction Engineering
• Architecture
• Similar technical or construction-related field
