Benefits Administrator

Overview The Benefit Administrator is responsible for administering and overseeing employee benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, life, short-term disability, long-term disability, and retirement plans. This role ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, organizational policies, and plan requirements. The Benefit Administrator manages the administration of COBRA continuation coverage for medical and dental plans, coordinates with carriers, vendors, and payroll to ensure accurate and timely processing, and maintains accurate benefit records. In addition, this role oversees the retirement plan to ensure adherence to fiduciary responsibilities, compliance with ERISA and other applicable regulations, and proper coordination with plan providers and auditors. The Benefit Administrator serves as a primary resource for employees regarding benefit programs, assisting with education, enrollment, and issue resolution. 40 Hours USD $83,591.04/Yr. USD $128,730.20/Yr. 01-8371 Human Resources Day Employer paid benefits - Medical, Dental, and Vision Salary - Min: $$83,591.04-Max: $ $128,730.20 Responsibilities Administer and facilitate enrollment, changes, and terminations for all employee benefit programs Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits questions, providing guidance and education on plan options. Organizes benefits fairs and coordinate annual open enrollment. Manage COBRA administration for medical and dental plans, ensuring compliance with federal and state requirements. Oversee the retirement plan, ensuring adherence to fiduciary responsibilities and compliance with ERISA and other applicable regulations. Maintain accurate benefit records and documentation for internal reporting and audits. Coordinate with carriers, plan providers, vendors, and payroll to ensure accurate and timely processing of benefits and deductions. Monitor compliance with plan rules, organizational policies, and government regulations; recommend and implement process improvements as needed. Assist in preparing reports and documentation for auditors, regulatory agencies, and internal leadership. Support benefit communications, including annual enrollment materials, plan updates, and employee education sessions. Stay current on trends, regulations, and best practices in employee benefits and retirement plan administration. Provide back up for Payroll functions The employee supports the hospital mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures. Participates in required education for DNV programs as applicable to position (reference program education curriculum). Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Required: High School diploma or equivalent Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Licenses/ certifications/ registrations Required: None Preferred: Employee Benefits Certification Experience Required: Minimum of 3 years in benefits administration, including retirement plan oversight Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Occasional walking, standing, bending, or lifting light office items (up to 25 pounds). Visual acuity to view computer screens and read detailed financial documents. Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically. May be required to move throughout the healthcare facility, including administrative and clinical areas. Working Conditions This position operates in a professional office setting within a healthcare facility. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The office environment is climate-controlled, well-lit, and ergonomically designed for extended computer work. While this role is primarily office-based and does not involve direct patient care, the employee may occasionally be present in clinical areas or interact with staff working in clinical environments.
