This is a rare chance to be the go-to real estate lawyer in an office that already generates deal flow, with the resources of a national platform behind you.
Our client is a respected national firm with a well-established New York office. Its corporate and banking & finance teams there are strong and busy. What’s missing is a dedicated commercial real estate lawyer, and the firm wants to bring in a seasoned real estate finance attorney to own that practice locally
What you’ll do
- Lead commercial real estate finance matters for lenders, owners, sponsors, developers, investors, and funds
- Handle mortgage, mezzanine, and construction loans from term sheet through closing
- Advise on acquisitions, sales, development, leasing, condominium matters, and loan restructurings/workouts
- Work alongside the NY corporate and finance groups on cross-practice transactions
What they’re looking for
- 8+ years of commercial real estate experience with a clear focus on finance
- Lender-side experience strongly preferred
- Ability to run complex deals independently, with excellent drafting and negotiating skills
- Comfortable as the real estate anchor in the NY office, collaborating with firm colleagues in other offices
- Admitted in New York
Book of business: Not required for Counsel. For Partner, a modest book or existing client relationships are required ($250K). They value the right lawyer over portable revenue.
Compensation: $300,000–$400,000 + base, depending on experience, plus bonus eligibility, comprehensive health and insurance benefits, and a 401(k).
