RN - Emergency DepartmentLocation: Morristown, NJ Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Shift Schedule: 7p - 7a Pay Rate: $66.50/HR ON W2 Summary: The RN in the Emergency Department is responsible for providing competent and comprehensive nursing care to patients across all stages of growth and development, from Pediatric to Geriatric. The role involves performing thorough assessments, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring patient safety and satisfaction.Responsibilities:Has competent knowledge of all the normal stages of growth and development from Pediatric to Geriatric and delivers patient care appropriately.Performs thorough assessments that are systematic, comprehensive, and accurate.Consistently demonstrates competent clinical skills.Performs direct patient care activities in support of patient care delivery and team concept.Provides competent and appropriate nursing care to the population of the unit.Demonstrates knowledge and skill of emergency equipment and procedures.Maintains complete and accurate documentation.Assumes primary responsibility for documenting components of the nursing process and patient's progress.Demonstrates professional practice responsibility.Identifies areas for clinical and professional growth.Consistently responds to patient's/families and co-workers in a professional, courteous, positive manner.Maintains confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines.Consistently follows the National Patient Safety Goals including following Universal Protocol.Demonstrates use of safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics.Demonstrates knowledge of the conditions/diagnoses, procedures, and equipment encountered for surgical patients.Individualizes patient care according to the procedure and type of anesthesia across the continuum of care.Assesses patient reaction and understanding of procedure/instructions.Contributes to the perioperative team by assuming responsibility and accountability for directing patient care.Prioritizes the care of patients depending on their needs and any changes in their condition.Assesses patient's understanding of surgical procedure/instructions, actively including the patient and family members in teaching.Performs pre-operative and postoperative assessment and education.Supports the completion of patient testing in a timely manner.Evaluates Pre Admission Testing (PAT) orders for appropriateness and for potential omissions.Required Skills:1 year experience in Critical Care/Cardiac or Emergency Department.Comfortable with managing up to 7 patients.Certifications & Licenses:BLS - Required.RN License - Required.ACLS - Required.PALS - Required for pediatric ER only.
