Environmental Health Safety Coordinator

The EHS Coordinator / Quality Technician is responsible for promoting a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant workplace while supporting the plant's quality management systems and customer requirements. This position ensures compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and automotive quality requirements while providing support across all three manufacturing shifts. The role involves conducting audits, investigating incidents, monitoring quality processes, analyzing data, and driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility. About the Role The EHS Coordinator / Quality Technician is responsible for promoting a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant workplace while supporting the plant's quality management systems and customer requirements. Responsibilities Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, state, local, and company EHS requirements. Conduct routine safety inspections and audits across all three shifts. Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, near misses, and safety concerns. Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Maintain OSHA logs, incident reports, and EHS documentation. Coordinate employee safety training and onboarding safety programs. Lead safety committees and participate in continuous improvement activities. Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and risk assessments. Monitor and maintain emergency response equipment and procedures. Manage hazardous waste handling, storage, and disposal activities. Ensure proper use of PPE and compliance with safety policies. Support workers' compensation and return-to-work programs. Track and report EHS metrics, trends, and compliance data. Quality Technician Responsibilities Perform product and process audits in accordance with customer and internal requirements. Conduct first-piece, in-process, and final inspections. Utilize measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM reports, and gauges. Verify compliance with quality standards, control plans, and work instructions. Investigate internal and customer quality concerns. Support containment activities and root cause analysis using tools such as: 8D 5 Whys Fishbone Diagram

PFMEA

Assist with corrective and preventive actions to improve quality performance. Monitor scrap, rework, and defect trends. Maintain quality records and inspection documentation. Support customer and third-party audits. Verify process compliance with IATF 16949 requirements. Participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives. Cross-Functional Support Provide EHS and quality support during all production shifts as needed. Coordinate communications between first, second, and third-shift supervisors. Assist with launch activities, process changes, and new product introductions. Support Layered Process Audits (LPA). Work closely with Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Human Resources, and Management teams. Participate in plant-wide continuous improvement projects. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Associate degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Quality, Manufacturing Technology, or related field preferred. Minimum 2-5 years of experience in automotive manufacturing. Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety compliance requirements. Experience with automotive quality systems and inspection methods. Knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and/or ISO 45001 preferred. Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processes. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Experience working in SAP is preferred. Required Skills Strong understanding of manufacturing safety practices. Knowledge of automotive quality standards and customer requirements. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to influence employees and promote a positive safety culture. Proficient with data collection, analysis, and reporting. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Preferred Skills OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Certification. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP). Internal Auditor Certification (IATF 16949, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
