Key Personnel is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join a busy Pharmacy in the Tulsa, OK area.

Pharmacy Technician Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

Pharmacy Technician Pay: $17-$19/hr, DOE

Pharmacy Technician Summary:

The Pharmacy Technician supports pharmacists in providing accurate, efficient, and compassionate pharmacy services to patients and healthcare staff. This role is responsible for prescription processing, insurance resolution, customer service, data entry, medication preparation, and maintaining effective communication with patients, providers, and team members. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, dependable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Pharmacy Technician Responsibilities:

Communication

• Communicate effectively with nursing staff, patients, and healthcare personnel regarding prescription needs, prior authorizations, and medication delays.
• Answer incoming phone calls professionally and provide excellent customer service.
• Document patient profiles, prescription updates, and pharmacy notes accurately.
• Respond promptly to internal communications and provide updates regarding prescription processing and client care.
• Coordinate medication deliveries and communicate with clients regarding pickup or delivery status.
• Refer patients to appropriate assistance programs when applicable.
• Notify pharmacists of drug utilization reviews, counseling opportunities, or prescription concerns.

Prescription Processing & Problem Solving

• Enter prescription information accurately from electronic, faxed, handwritten, or transferred prescriptions.
• Resolve insurance rejections and billing issues to ensure proper claim processing.
• Assist in identifying solutions to medication access challenges.
• Anticipate workflow issues and communicate concerns proactively to supervisors.
• Maintain accurate patient insurance and demographic information in pharmacy software.

Medication Preparation & Accuracy

• Select and prepare medications accurately under pharmacist supervision.
• Verify prescription labels, patient information, and medication quantities before dispensing.
• Maintain accurate filing systems and patient records.
• Perform routine pharmacy maintenance and organizational tasks.

Time Management & Productivity

• Complete assigned duties efficiently and within established deadlines.
• Effectively multitask while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
• Maintain productivity during both high-volume and slower workflow periods.
• Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality.

Teamwork

• Maintain a positive and professional attitude with coworkers and patients.
• Collaborate effectively with pharmacists, technicians, and healthcare staff.
• Offer assistance to team members as needed to support smooth pharmacy operations.
• Accept and provide constructive feedback professionally.

Customer Service

• Greet and assist patients in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
• Address patient questions and concerns while maintaining confidentiality.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy environment.
• Process voicemail prescriptions and refill requests in a timely manner.
• Use sound judgment when escalating patient concerns or difficult situations to pharmacists or supervisors.

Pharmacy Technician Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Pharmacy Technician experience preferred.
• Pharmacy Technician certification and/or state registration preferred, if applicable.
• Completion of an approved pharmacy technician training program preferred.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Knowledge of pharmacy operations, prescription processing, and insurance billing preferred.
• Proficiency with pharmacy software and general computer applications preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively with patients, healthcare professionals, and team members.
