Jackson-Madison County Schools Position Information Position Type: Athletics/Activities/ Coaching Date Posted: 6/4/2026 Location: North Parkway Middle School (High-Needs School) Date Available: 07/27/2026 Closing Date: 06/30/2026 Job Title Head Softball Coach Reporting Reports to: Building Principal Supervises Assistant Coaches (if applicable) Job Goal To coach student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for interscholastic competitions and life, while also motivating student athletes to develop an appreciation of teamwork. Qualifications and Training Bachelor's Degree Tennessee teaching license [ACTIVE] Three to five years of successful coaching (head and/or assistant) experience Effective leadership, decision‑making and verbal/written communication skills Displays interpersonal skills and professionalism Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent might find appropriate and acceptable Evaluation Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel. Performance Responsibilities Monitors the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met, and encourages student athletes to maintain a high academic standard Assesses players' skills and assigns team positions Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development; works with the Athletic Director in scheduling facilities for practices and games Coaches and instructs players, individually and in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport Observes players during competition and practice to determine needs for individual or team improvement; determines game strategy Establishes and maintains standards of decorum and always provides proper supervision of athletes Conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the athletic performance of their students Follows all state, district, and regional regulations governing the athletic program Models sports‑like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators Acts as the team representative and promotes the sport by communicating with booster clubs, service clubs, community groups, and other organizations Follows established procedures for the proper care, maintenance, and requisitioning of equipment, supplies, uniforms, etc. Equal Employment Opportunity Statement The Jackson-Madison County School System (JMCSS) provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or genetics. #J-18808-Ljbffr Jackson-Madison County
