Registered Nurse (RN) – Float (ER, ICU, Med Surg, IMC, Women’s Services) Job Type: Full Time | Days Schedule: 3x12, Days (7a-7p) Sign On Bonus: Based on Eligibility Job Summary The Med/Surg unit provides direct patient care to critically ill adult patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. This position coordinates total nursing care, participates in patient and family teaching, acts as a patient advocate, and works as part of a team with ancillary and non-nursing departments. Responsibilities Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care treatment. Documents patient care given. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family. Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation. Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs. Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances. Acts as an advocate for the physical and emotional well‑being of the patient. Floats to other departments as needed to maintain safe nurse‑to‑patient ratios. Manages ventilators, CPAP/BIPAP, VAPotherms. Titrates and maintains critical drips on ICU patients, with knowledge of indications, contraindications, and side effects. Qualifications Required: Current Kentucky or compact state RN license; associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school. Basic Life Support (BLS) required within one month of hire. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within one year of hire. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within one year of hire.
