Location KHOU-TV Houston, the CBS TEGNA affiliate Position: Multi‑Skilled Journalist We are looking for an experienced journalist who can create unique, memorable and well‑written stories, share them on all platforms with outstanding photography and editing. Creative storytellers who understand true multi‑platform journalism and are not bound by traditional TV news methods are encouraged to apply. Core Responsibilities Perform authoritative, compelling live shots in developing story or breaking news situations. Develop story ideas. Mine the community to find sources who keep you informed about events and ideas in their areas of expertise. Identify, write and produce stories within a specific framework. Research for facts and credibility. Maintain and develop sources who elevate our reporting. Shoot, write, produce and edit on‑air and online content within deadlines. Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new media to enhance stories. Use social media and digital tools to research, discover and distribute content. Attend editorial meetings and offer story ideas daily. Write in an exciting, captivating, authentic manner. Requirements 3–5 years of reporting experience (preferred). Solid news judgment, strong communication, creativity and ethical decision‑making skills. Strong writing, production and tease writing abilities. Experience with ENPS, EDIUS and Axis graphics (preferred). Strong organization and ability to work under constant deadlines. Calmly handle live breaking news situations and changing events. Proven social and digital content creation ability. Knowledge of Houston (plus). Current driver’s license and ability to operate a news‑gathering vehicle.
