Job Description Under the supervision of the UCSF Department of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery and Urogynecology, in collaboration with the Medical Director, and guided by the policies and procedures, rules and regulations, and bylaws of the UCSF Medical Center, some Nursing Policies, and, Medical Staff Policies, and any unique ambulatory patient services this Nurse Practitioner 2 (NP 2) position provides direct care to minimally invasive gynecology surgery and urogynecology patients with multiple, often complicated chronic medical problems. Job Description Under the supervision of the UCSF Department of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery and Urogynecology, in collaboration with the Medical Director, and guided by the policies and procedures, rules and regulations, and bylaws of the UCSF Medical Center, some Nursing Policies, and, Medical Staff Policies, and any unique ambulatory patient services this Nurse Practitioner 2 (NP 2) position provides direct care to minimally invasive gynecology surgery and urogynecology patients with multiple, often complicated chronic medical problems. This APP position may perform delegated functions as appropriate to their “scope of practice”. In general, the “scope of practice” includes the management of chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and surgical procedures per approved standardized procedures (SPs) as identified by the list available on the Office of Medical Affairs and Governance (OMAG) website. The NP’s primary responsibility will be to provide clinical care to all appropriate MIGS/Urogyn patients in need of new, routine, urgent, and same day visits. The NP will provide triage care by phone and through MyChart, and provide direct support to our triage team. The NP will communicate patient care updates and follow-up through phone and MyChart. Responsibilities may include coordinating ongoing care for MIGS/Urogyn patients, managing clinical follow-ups, supporting the care team with In Basket messages and prescription refills. The NP will independently see patients for both new and follow-up visits, and will also provide same-day access for urgent concerns, pre- and post-operative needs, and routine MIGS/Urogyn care. Required Qualifications Excellent verbal and written communication skills Judgement skills to effectively meet the needs of patients Self-direction and organizational skills to function in an independent role Ability to cope with personal stress experienced by health care providers and team members Ability to meet minimum standards for hospital credentialing and billing standards as a billable provider Mandatory attendance at the Office of Advanced Practice Providers Orientation Sessions This position requires flexibility for the APP to work at all UCSF Health facilities/locations Performs other duties as assigned Preferred Qualifications Four years or greater NP experience in inpatient Obstetrics within the past five years, including managing patients independently. Able to interpret Nonstress tests, ultrasound and telemetry. Minimum License/Certification California Registered Nurse (RN) License without restriction California Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) without restriction California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number including Schedule II furnishing privileges NP national board certification from an accepted certifying agency aligned with the patient population and clinical role Adult Inpatient (ACNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, ACNPC) or Women’s Health (WHNP-BC) . California Driver License (if required for position) Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Additional required AHA certifications: PALS Additional required certifications (such as ENLS): no additional certifications are required Minimum Education & Experience Graduation from a California Board of Registered Nursing approved or verified school of nursing with a master’s degree in nursing or a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). Nurse Practitioner 2 (at least six (6) months of NP experience): UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day.
