The role involves providing critical care in a fast-paced environment. The unit consists of 39 beds with a patient ratio of 1:4. Staffing includes one unit secretary and 2-3 techs on the floor. Equipped with crash carts, level one equipment, Alaris pumps, and bedside cardiac monitors. The documentation system used is MediTech. Scheduling is done on a 4-week cycle, with schedules posted two weeks prior to the start date. Rounding on patients occurs every 30 minutes to an hour, along with bedside shift report. Advanced skills required include assistance with chest tubes, moderate sedation, lumbar puncture, laceration repair, and blood product handling. The dress code requires black scrubs. The unit has specific policies and guidelines to ensure high-quality patient care.
