OPS ADVANCED PRACTICE REGISTERED NURSE

Your Specific Responsibilities:

• Provides comprehensive health care to clients in the Tuberculosis and Refugee Health Program.
• Conducts patient intake, vitals, and history when nurse is absent.
• Analyzes and interprets patient histories, symptoms, physical findings, and/or diagnostic information to develop appropriate diagnoses.
• Diagnoses and treat acute health care problems such as illnesses, infections, or injuries.
• Orders, conducts, interprets, and/or evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's condition.
• Orders, reviews and interprets laboratory tests to identify and assess patient's condition.
• Prescribes and administers medications based on patient characteristics, efficacy, safety, and cost as legally authorized.
• Makes medical diagnosis and prescribes treatment within scope of service.
• Develops treatment plans based on scientific rationale, standards of care, and professional practice guidelines.
• Makes appropriate follow ups and referrals.
• Educates patients about self-management of acute and chronic illnesses, tailoring instructions to patients' individual circumstances.
• Responds to medical emergencies within the clinics. Communicate with emergency responders regarding patient needs and follow up.
• Completes case management, including record review and lab review.
• Communicates with outside providers and specialists regarding care of patients.
• Communicates patient needs with parents/guardians as appropriate while ensuring confidentiality according to Florida State Statute.
• Provides consultation and technical assistance in evaluating the appropriateness of client care.
• Documents all services in EHR timely and accurately.
• Communicate with clinic team and other colleagues.
• Ensure that all requirements are met, including program objectives, productivity, service activities, and target population.
• Provides excellent customer service.
• Assists with training of new clinical staff members.
• Assists with routine oversight and credentialing of Refugee Health Nurses
• Participates in quality improvement projects and initiatives within the program and across the DOH organization.
• Assists in the development of policy and protocols related to the management of nursing care problems and the delivery of client care.
• Keeps supervisor informed.
• Completes time sheet, EARS, and mandatory training in a timely and accurate manner.
• Completes incident reports in a timely manner.
• Completes training to promote professional growth.
• Participate in peer review and provider, team, and other meetings as assigned.
• Schedules time off in advance and collaborate with supervisor to ensure work responsibilities are covered when absent.
• Performs other related duties as assigned, including Emergency Duty

Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:

• Knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and techniques.
• Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
• Knowledge of communicable diseases and their pathophysiology.
• Ability to administer prescribed medications.
• Ability to perform complete physical appraisals of patients.

Working hours: · Total hours in workweek could equal up to 32 hours

Qualifications:

Minimum

• Clear and active license in the state of Florida to practice as an ARNP per Chapter 464 Part I of the Florida Statutes Nurse Practice Act
• Current active Florida Nursing License or a multistate license from another compact state
• CPR Certification
• Current valid Florida Driver’s License with daily access to private transportation or able to obtain within 30 days of hire

Preferred:

• At least 1 year of experience working in a medical office setting
• Extensive computer skills, including the use of an electronic health records
• One-year of working in a public health setting
• Experience leading a clinic team
• Knowledge of communicable diseases, including Tuberculosis
