Maintenance Technician - 1st Shift

Overview Description : The Mechanical Technician is responsible for the maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment and systems supporting airport operations at the New Orleans International Airport. This includes Passenger Boarding Bridges (PBB), Baggage Handling Systems (BHS), Checked Baggage Inspection Systems (CBIS), related conveyors, drive, and structural assemblies. The Mechanical Technician ensures that all mechanical systems operate safely, reliably, and efficiently in accordance with PBP Services’ standards, contractual requirements, and airport safety regulations. Responsibilities Maintain and repair all types of HVAC systems and associated components Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as pre-condition air units, roof top units, passenger loading bridges/gate services in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operational manuals and manufacturer’s specifications using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments Perform brazing, soldering, pipefitting, welding, and fabrication Inspect, monitor, repair, maintain, and operate mechanical systems, motors, compressors, pumps, fans, ducts, pipes, thermostats, and switches Install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilating, air conditioning, glycol, heating, hot water, and steam distribution equipment and systems to optimize performance and energy use Read and understand blue prints, mechanical drawings, electrical and hydraulic schematics Read, interpret, and alter PLC Rung Ladder Diagrams and Upload/Download PLC programs and Human Machine Interface (HMI) configurations Install and program Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) as well as other devices common in an industrial automation environment Maintain and repair Automatic Tag Readers (ATR) and related bar code reading equipment Troubleshoot and repair point of use and central plant refrigeration equipment and 400 Hz ground power systems Troubleshoot and maintain other hydraulic, pneumatic, hydronic, and plumbing subsystems and components Perform preventive maintenance services/tasks and ensure completion in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) specifications Monitor daily equipment operations statistics/logs to verify all equipment is operating to OEM specification and provide corrective action as required Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space, PPE, and other OSHA safety protocols at all times Communicate effectively and thoroughly with other shifts, managerial personnel, and customer representatives Qualifications Minimum 1 year of maintenance experience in an industrial, airport, or material handling environment preferred Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems Familiarity with conveyors, drives, sensors, PLCs, and other automated system components Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and maintenance manuals Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as Maximo or similar preferred Competency with hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and work at heights or in confined spaces as required Availability for variable shifts, weekends, and holidays to support 24/7 operations Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to meet company insurability requirements Competencies and Attributes Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Safety-first mindset with understanding of OSHA requirements Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team Good communication and interpersonal skills Willingness to learn, adapt, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives Professionalism, integrity, and dependability in all aspects of work Benefits Medical / Dental / Vision / Life Insurance Paid Time Off (PTO) 401(k) Retirement Plan Full-time, onsite role with shift-based schedule #J-18808-Ljbffr Health IT NEWS.Direct!
