Specimen Processing - Specimen Technician - 3rd Shift

Job Title & Compensation $19.00 - $19.78/hour Miramar, FL Allied Health Professional // Technician All On-site Local Contract Starts 5/25/2026 Job Description Specimen Technician - 3rd Shift Responsible for general support functions within the Specimen Processing Department, requiring a data entry background. Perform functions including A-station, presort, pickup and delivery of processed specimens to the laboratory, imaging/microfilming, centrifugation, and aliquoting. Execute all functions with confidence, accuracy and in a timely manner. Requires good organization skills and ability to learn and understand specimen types related to tests ordered by clients. Learn and understand compliance regulations related to test ordering which may change daily. Provide flexibility to meet changing demands; majority work night shift but may be required for weekends, holidays, on call, overtime. Work in a biohazard environment, practicing good safety habits. Must be able to sit or stand for long periods and maintain a neat, clean work area. Communicate effectively with all staff levels and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills that foster a positive environment. Adhere to core values, safety and compliance policies and procedures. Maintain productivity/quality standards and meet departmental completion times. Qualifications HS diploma or equivalent. Basic understanding of computers; preferred knowledge of laboratory testing and specimen processing. No prior experience required but previous laboratory or production environment experience preferred. Medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory is a plus. Candidate must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license. Must be available to work whenever scheduled, be on time, and stay for the entire shift; excessive absenteeism/tardiness will result in termination. Exhibit excellent understanding of English language both spoken and written. Bilingual candidates who also speak Spanish are strongly preferred; English must still be strong. Ability to wear lab coat, mask, goggles, gloves, and protective wear when testing samples.
