Phlebotomist II Location: 33 Park St., Glens Falls, NY Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM-4:00 PM; every other Saturday, 7:00 AM-12:30 PM Duration: 3 months Location: 33 Park St., Glens Falls, NY Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM-4:00 PM; every other Saturday, 7:00 AM-12:30 PM Duration: 3 months Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist to perform blood draws and specimen collection while ensuring accurate labeling, processing, and handling of patient specimens. The Phlebotomist will also assist with troubleshooting, training, workflow recommendations, and maintaining compliance with established laboratory procedures. Key Responsibilities Perform venipunctures using straight and butterfly needles . Collect blood, urine, fecal, and other specimens as required. Explain the blood draw and specimen collection process clearly and courteously to patients. Verify physician orders and match laboratory requisitions with the correct specimen tubes. Accurately label, centrifuge, split, freeze, and prepare specimens according to test requirements. Ensure test requisitions and computer labels match the physician's orders with 100% accuracy. Package and prepare specimens for transportation while maintaining specimen integrity. Store specimens at the required temperature and in the appropriate containers/tubes. Update patient information and maintain accurate records. Record maintenance data and perform required decontamination procedures. Answer telephone calls and assist with laboratory result inquiries as appropriate. Follow established laboratory procedures and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations . Attend required annual department training. Assist with troubleshooting, training, and workflow improvement recommendations. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Minimum 6 months of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting. 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred. Valid phlebotomy certification where required by the state. Experience with both straight needle and butterfly needle techniques. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in specimen identification, labeling, and processing. Ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
