Identify the patient correctly per NPSG. Select correct tubes to draw blood per test ordered. Follow procedure for patients unable to draw as per hospital policy. Follow blood culture procedure per Infection Control guideline. Follow hospital specific protocols and procedures specific to phlebotomy. Properly label specimen per hospital policy and requisitions. Follow biohazard waste, sharps, disposal, and standard precautions procedure and policy. Qualifications Phlebotomy registered (American Society of Clinical Pathologist or other accepted certifying agency) preferred. CPR certification. Phlebotomy training course completion.
