Underground Journeyman Plumber

About the Role:

The Underground Journeyman Plumber is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining underground sewer, water, and drain lines, reading blueprints and site plans to accurately locate and lay pipe, operating trenching and excavation equipment safely, and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction. You'll work hands-on with pipe fitting, joining, and testing techniques while troubleshooting issues in the field, and partner with your team to deliver top-quality underground plumbing services to our residential customers.

• Install, repair, and replace underground sewer, water, and drain lines for residential customers.
• Read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and specifications to accurately locate and lay pipe.
• Operate trenching, excavation, and pipe-laying equipment safely and in compliance with OSHA standards.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot underground plumbing issues, including leaks, blockages, and line breaks.
• Cut, fit, join, and test pipe using appropriate materials and techniques (PVC, cast iron, copper, etc.).
• Ensure all work meets local and state plumbing codes, permit requirements, and safety regulations.
• Coordinate with municipal inspectors to schedule and pass required inspections.
• Maintain accurate job documentation, including work orders, materials used, and time on site.
• Communicate clearly with customers on job scope, timelines, and any issues that arise.
• Work safely around utility lines and coordinate with other trades on job sites as needed.
• Keep company vehicle, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and in good working condition.
• Maintain a clean and safe job site, including proper backfill and restoration after excavation work.

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a journeyman plumber, with a focus on underground/sewer & drain work.
• Valid PA Journeyman Plumber license
• Strong technical knowledge of sewer and drain systems, residential underground plumbing, and related repair techniques.
• Experience operating trenching and excavation equipment a plus.
• Results-driven mindset with a passion for quality workmanship.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in using smartphones, tablets, and service management software.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to lift heavy materials and work in physically demanding conditions, including trenches and confined spaces.
