Dairy Supervisor
The Dairy Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily operations of the dairy department, ensuring product freshness, strong in-stock conditions, and an organized, customer-ready environment. This role drives sales performance, minimizes shrink, and leads the dairy team in executing company standards with consistency and efficiency.
Department Operations
- Oversee receiving, stocking, rotation, and inventory control for all dairy products
- Ensure proper cold chain handling to maintain product quality and freshness
- Maintain high in-stock levels while reducing out-of-stocks and shrink
- Organize cooler and backroom areas to support efficient product flow
Customer Service & Sales
- Provide excellent customer service and assist with product inquiries
- Maintain fully stocked, faced, and visually appealing dairy cases
- Execute pricing, signage, and promotional displays accurately
- Support department sales through consistent product availability
Team Leadership & Development
- Train, coach, and supervise dairy clerks
- Assign daily tasks and ensure productivity and completion standards are met
- Reinforce company expectations, safety practices, and performance standards
- Promote accountability and a positive team environment
Merchandising & Standards
- Ensure proper product rotation (FIFO) and removal of expired or damaged items
- Maintain clean, organized dairy cases and storage areas
- Execute planograms, seasonal sets, and merchandising standards
Food Safety & Compliance
- Monitor refrigeration temperatures and ensure food safety compliance
- Follow all sanitation, health, and safety procedures
- Report and resolve equipment or safety concerns promptly
Operational & Financial Support
- Assist with inventory counts, ordering accuracy, and shrink control
- Track department performance including sales and labor
- Support efficient labor usage to meet productivity goals
Qualifications
- Previous dairy, grocery, or retail experience preferred
- Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
- Knowledge of perishable product handling and rotation
- Ability to work in a cold, fast-paced environment
- Basic math and computer skills
- Flexible schedule including early mornings, weekends, and holidays
