Cooper Testing Labs is a geotechnical testing laboratory. We are looking for a laboratory technician to perform various geotechnical tests. The Geotechnical Laboratory Technician is responsible for laboratory testing of geotechnical and construction materials including soils, rock, and aggregates. Previous geotechnical testing experience is valued, but not required. On the job training is provided. This position does have a physical component, including regularly and repeatedly lifting 50 pounds to shoulder level.

 

Typical Work Schedule:

• Monday through Friday
• During initial training, 10AM-6PM,
• After initial training 8 hours per day sometime between 7:30AM and 6:00PM

 

Responsibilities:

• Organize and prepare samples for testing.
• Perform laboratory geotechnical tests in accordance with ASTM, Caltrans, and AASHTO standards.
• Maintain a clean and organized work space.
• Operating, cleaning, maintaining, and calibrating testing equipment.
• Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds to shoulder level.
• Excellent organization skills, attendance, and time management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
• Previous experience in a lab environment is a plus.
• Basic Algebra, Geometry, and Chemistry is a plus.

This is a position with significant on the job training and growth opportunities. Salary will increase with experience.
