Lab Technician-- MEHDC5821671

Job Purpose

The QC Technician is responsible for collecting random samples from production batches/lots and performing a variety of testing procedures to evaluate the physical and chemical characteristics of products. This role utilizes sophisticated testing equipment and follows established procedures to ensure the quality of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Testing & Analysis

• Collect random samples from production batches and lots for testing.
• Perform a wide variety of physical and chemical tests on raw materials, in-process products, and finished products.
• Conduct tests including, but not limited to:
• Weight per unit of measure
• Flow characteristics
• Gloss measurements
• Color evaluation against established standards
• Other product quality and performance tests
• Record, analyze, and report test results accurately and legibly.

Equipment Maintenance & Calibratio n

• Maintain and calibrate laboratory and testing equipment.
• Ensure testing instruments are functioning accurately and within established specifications.
• Assist with calibration planning and implementation.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain quality control records, charts, and testing documentation.
• Record observations and test results in the appropriate QC records and files.
• Ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with company standards.

Production & Quality Support

• Work closely with QC Management, Production, and Product Development teams to investigate production and field-related issues.
• Help identify potential causes of customer complaints and product defects.
• Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action activities.
• Evaluate testing methods for repeatability and reliability.

Continuous Improvement

• Actively participate in 5S and workplace organization initiatives.
• Support continuous improvement efforts within the quality department.
• Maintain housekeeping and cleanliness standards in assigned work areas.

Level II Technician Responsibilities

In addition to standard QC Technician responsibilities, Level II Technicians may:

• Evaluate test methods for repeatability and consistency.
• Assist in developing and maintaining calibration plans.
• Assist in creating training materials and training curricula.
• Assist in developing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Participate in root cause analysis investigations and corrective action initiatives.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Technical Knowledge

• Knowledge of chemical composition, structure, and reactions as they relate to manufacturing and production processes.
• Understanding of quality control testing methods and laboratory procedures.
• Ability to operate testing equipment safely and effectively.

Safety & Compliance

• Must follow all established safety rules, procedures, and guidelines.
• Must demonstrate integrity and adherence to the company's Code of Conduct.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and follow safety instructions.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to chemical agents.
• Must be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods.
• Near vision capability sufficient to read labels and inspect product details, with or without corrective lenses.
• Must be able to pass the Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Hue Color Test with a score of 32 or lower.

• Measurements
• Ability to monitor gauges, dials, and display screens to ensure proper equipment operation.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, including the ability to identify issues and contribute to root cause analysis and corrective actions.
