Job Overview The Real Estate Instructor is a 9‑month faculty position responsible for teaching Real Estate Pre‑Licensing, Post‑Licensing, and related continuing education courses aligned with North Carolina Real Estate Commission (NCREC) requirements. Faculty are expected to exhibit excellence in classroom instruction, curriculum development, student mentorship, and college engagement. Responsibilities align with the standard academic year (fall and spring semesters), with additional summer teaching opportunities available but not required. I. Mastery of Subject Matter a. Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of real estate principles, practices, and NCREC regulations. b. Display an ability to interpret and evaluate the theories relevant to the real estate field. c. Connect subject matter with the real estate licensing process and industry. d. Remain current in subject matter through professional development, regulatory updates, involvement in professional organizations, and attending professional meetings, conferences, workshops, and NCREC training. e. Learn and utilize technology, and learning management systems (e.g., Brightspace, Canvas, Microsoft Teams) to enhance teaching and the educational experience when appropriate. II. Teaching Performance a. Teach an assigned 9‑month faculty course load, including day, evening, hybrid, hyflex, or online sections as needed. b. Plan and organize instruction to maximize documented student learning and exam readiness, including reviewing and uploading course material into the learning management system for PT‑Real Estate Instructors. c. Use a variety of teaching methods suited to diverse learning styles. d. Incorporate technology‑enhanced teaching strategies. e. Support development of communication, analytical, and higher‑order thinking skills. f. Select, develop, and maintain instructional materials aligned with NCREC standards. g. Develop, update, and post course syllabi in a timely manner. h. Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students. i. Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs. j. Employ available instructional technology. k. Contribute to the selection and development of instructional materials in accordance with course objectives. l. Incorporate core competencies into curriculum. III. Evaluation of Student Learning a. Establish clear, meaningful learning outcomes for courses/programs. b. Develop and explain methods that fairly measure student progress toward learning outcomes. c. Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return student work promptly to promote maximum learning. d. Maintain accurate academic records and submit final grades rosters to division administrator each semester according to required deadlines. e. Demonstrate sensitivity to individual learning needs and support student success. IV. Support of College Policies and Procedures a. Teach at multiple campuses or online as assigned. b. Maintain regular office hours for students advising and academic support during the 9‑month contact period. c. Post and update regular office hours to ensure accessibility to colleagues and students for advisement and consultation. d. Respond promptly to students. e. Serve as faculty advisor within the current college advisement system. f. Prepare, distribute, and submit syllabi and approved course outlines for all assigned sections in accordance with program and divisional policies. g. Follow all college, program, and NCREC guidelines for syllabi, attendance, documentation, and confidentiality of student information. h. Substitute for other instructors or colleagues when necessary. i. Demonstrate responsible stewardship of college facilities, technology, and materials. j. Record and provide attendance data in accordance with College Policies and Procedures. V. Participation in College, Division, and Program Activities a. Serves on college, department, divisional, and program committees as assigned. b. Participate in meetings, training, and professional development activities, and events required by the college, department, division, and program administrators. c. Respond in a timely fashion to information requests from college, division, and program administrators. d. Collaborate with part‑time and full‑time colleagues to support consistent instructional excellence. e. Assist with curriculum development, program updates, and assessment processes. f. Respond promptly to requests from program leaders. g. Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills in communication with students, colleagues, staff, and administrators as an individual or as part of a team. h. Assist director with NCREC renewals and compliance reporting by providing updated instructional records and documentation to be submitted to the appropriate regulatory boards. VI. Contribution to Growth and Enhancement of College Mission and Programs a. Maintain and support, and perform professional responsibilities in accordance with college goals, mission, and long‑range plans. b. Contribute and engage in planning and development activities that strengthen instruction and program quality. c. Participate in marketing, recruitment, and retention efforts of students, staff and faculty that support program enrollment. Preferred Qualifications Current NCREC approved RE Instructor with license in good standing. Current NCREC approved to teach pre and post licensing classes. Associated degree. Two years of teaching experience for a community college. Experience delivering online, and hybrid classes. Approved to teach Gen-Up and BIC-Up. Working Conditions Traditional classroom, clinical and/or computer labs, hybrid, hyflex, or online learning environment.
