Planner II

The Planner II position manages and implements planning projects related to land use, site, and architectural design; and ensures availability of infrastructure and compliance with relevant local, state, and federal guidelines. The position acts as project manager for the review of development applications; recommends amendments; provides technical assistance to developers, staff, and the public; oversees special studies and projects; manages and creates documents; prepares reports; and acts as a liaison with other agencies and departments.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

• The ability to apply urban planning principles to work assignments, and develop creative solutions to technical or complex problems when encountered.
• Excellent customer service skills, along with advanced research methods/techniques.
• The ability to communicate technical regulations or policies in a clear and concise manner to a wide-ranging audience in both verbal and written form.
• Experience with electronic case or plan review.

Minimum Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in urban planning or closely related field like planning, landscape architecture, geography or public administration.
• Experience: Minimum of one year of related experience. Requires a working knowledge of standard practices and procedures.
• Licenses and Certifications: Valid Arizona Driver's License upon hire.
• Desirable Qualifications: Experience in a municipal or government setting. Working knowledge of ArcGIS.
