Senior Backend Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with 5+ years of experience to join our team and build production Agentic systems at scale. You will be a strong individual contributor with a co-founder mindset, helping us push the frontier of what's possible with Agentic workflows in Healthcare. We need someone who can take powerful platform capabilities, design multi-step workflows, and ship them to production to directly impact patient outcomes on our AI-powered care orchestration platform. Roughly 60-70% of your time is deployment-focused; the remainder is platform contribution: building reusable workflow primitives, improving shared infrastructure based on patterns you see across customers, and shaping how we architect agentic systems at scale.

Ideally 5+ years of experience backend engineering focused on building and operating production AI systems.

Work experience

Experience & Tenure:  5+ years of hands-on experience building and operating production backend systems, preferred with some recent experience in AI-powered services and automation workflows in high-availability environments.

Core Backend Expertise:   Proven experience designing and operating complex backend systems, including a deep understanding of concurrency, scalability, reliability, and distributed systems patterns.

Technical Stack:   Strong experience building and maintaining large-scale Python codebases and hands-on experience with async or event-driven architectures.

Production AI Focus:   Experience building and shipping AI-powered systems beyond prototypes or internal demos.

Seen good engineering at scale (big company, well-funded startup)  and optionally   worn multiple hats in a fast-paced startup environment

Education

Computer Science degree from a top-tier or Top 30 university.

Hard skills

Expert-level proficiency   in Python at scale

Infrastructure ownership: builds, deploys, monitors, and iterates on end-to-end systems (on call rotation is part of the role)

Agentic development fluency - orchestrating sub-agents, when to use off-the-shelf vs. frontier models

Soft skills

Co-founder mindset - ships fast, understands trade-offs, drives business outcomes
