Metrologist - 1st shift

Duration: 4–6 Month Contract (Month-to-Month) Reports To: Supplier Quality / Quality Engineering Team Position Summary We are seeking a highly hands‑on Metrologist to support Supplier Quality Engineers with inspection, measurement, and validation activities related to Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions and new product introductions. This position is heavily focused on dimensional inspection, First Article Inspection (FAI), blueprint interpretation, and PPAP documentation support. The ideal candidate will be capable of independently performing bench inspection activities using standard metrology equipment with minimal supervision or training. Candidates must have proven experience reading GD&T blueprints, ballooning prints for PPAP documentation, performing mechanical inspections using precision hand tools, and conducting electrical continuity verification through schematic interpretation and physical inspection methods. Key Responsibilities Perform dimensional and visual inspections on mechanical and electrical components to support PPAP and supplier quality activities Conduct First Article Inspections (FAIs) and complete dimensional layout inspections Create and interpret ballooned prints for PPAP inspection documentation Perform inspection activities using micrometers, calipers, optical comparators Verify product dimensions, tolerances, and conformance to engineering specifications Read and interpret schematic and perform continuity testing on electrical components and assemblies Document dimensional data, inspection findings, and test results using advanced Excel spreadsheets and quality systems Support Supplier Quality Engineers by providing accurate inspection data for PPAP submissions Maintain organized and traceable quality documentation and inspection records Required Qualifications Experience working as a Metrologist, Quality Technician, or Quality Inspector Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, and standard mechanical inspection equipment Independent experience performing First Article Inspections (FAIs) and ballooned print inspections Strong understanding of GD&T, dimensional inspection methods, electrical schematics, and continuity testing Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for inspection documentation and reporting Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment with minimal supervision Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting PPAP submissions within automotive, electrical, or electronics manufacturing Experience with Oracle, Windchill, ETQ, SAP, or similar quality management systems CMM operation experience (preferred) Experience inspecting electrical assemblies and mechanical assemblies Critical Hiring Factors Immediate bench inspection capability without extensive training Strong preference for candidates with demonstrated hands‑on inspection capability rather than generalized quality experience Additional Information Contract expected to last approximately 4–6 months with potential extension Potential future full‑time opportunity based on business needs and performance Immediate interview availability preferred #J-18808-Ljbffr Ms Companies, LLC
