Job Description

The Quality Assurance Technician will perform periodic line audits on production as directed by the QA checklist to ensure the right product is shipped to customers. Audits are performed per the SQF program and as directed by the quality supervisor, including GMP and FIFO audits. The role involves ensuring that material inspections on incoming raw materials meet expectations, performing physical and light chemical analysis of ingredients and finished products accurately, and performing sanitation duties as needed. The technician will communicate data to the quality, operations, and manufacturing departments in a timely manner, and will utilize computer data entry and spreadsheets to maintain records.

Responsibilities

• Perform periodic line audits on production per the QA checklist

• Conduct audits in alignment with SQF program and quality supervisor directives, such as GMP and FIFO audits

• Ensure incoming raw materials meet inspection expectations

• Perform physical analysis of ingredients and finished products

• Conduct light chemical analysis

• Execute sanitation duties as needed

• Communicate data promptly to relevant departments

• Enter data into computer systems and maintain spreadsheets

• Collaborate with other departments

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in food science, quality control, and food safety

• Understanding of FDA-GMPs and SQF standards

• Attention to detail for noticing anomalies in codes

• Data entry skills, including Excel and verbal/written reporting

• Background in food quality

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• A science degree is preferred, but candidates with a high school diploma and QA/QC experience are welcome

• Experience in laboratory and chemistry settings

• 2 years in a QA capacity is preferred but not required

Work Environment

The role is based in a food manufacturing setting where the production floor temperature can exceed 80 degrees in the summer and drop to 50 degrees in the winter. The position requires walking and standing in the warehouse for several hours and sitting for 2-4 hours. Daily lifting of weights from 1lb to 60lbs is expected. The role is on the 3rd Shift from 11pm to 7am, Sunday night to Friday, with 2-4 weeks of training during the day from 7am to 3pm. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kansas City, KS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
