WJE is seeking a Director of Finance with exceptional integrity, soundjudgment, and a collaborative leadership style to help guide the financial health and performance of the firm. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Administration, the Director of Finance will work closely with WJE’s Controller and finance team to provide strategic financial leadership, oversee the firm’s financial performance, and support informed decision-making across the organization. This role serves as a trusted partner to leadership, helping ensure the financial strength and stability that enable WJE to continue delivering better solutions to problems in the built world.This position will be 100% onsite at our corporate headquarters in Northbrook, Illinois.Specifically, the Director of Finance willprovide:Strategic Financial LeadershipEstablishlong and short-term financialobjectivesthat support WJE’s business strategy, sustainable growth,and long-term successDevelop and communicate financial insights that support informed decision-making and reinforce fiscal responsibility throughout the organizationFinancial Management and ReportingOversee financialplanningandanalysis processes, including budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and consolidated reporting Presentfinancial reports and analysestoexecutive leadership and the Board of Directors, translating complex financial information into actionable business insightsRegulatoryComplianceOversee tax planning, reporting, andcompliancefor a multi-jurisdictioninternational operationwhilemonitoringregulatory developments and assessing their impact Ensure the effectiveness of internal controls and compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local financial reporting requirementsOperational LeadershipPartner with project managers and operational leaders to provide responsive financial support, promote effective project management practices, andoptimizeinvoicing and collections performanceProvide functional oversight of the Workday financial system implementation, including managing data continuity between legacyDeltekand Workday environments, andmaintainingSQL-based querying capability against transitional datasets Desired Skills and ExperienceBachelor’s degreein Accounting or Finance, MBA, and/or CPA highly desirableMinimum 15 years of progressively responsible accounting/financial roles, preferably within the professional services fieldCan-do mindset and the ability to work in a company culture that is based on trust and personal responsibility as opposed to rules and policiesSolutions-oriented approach withwillingness andcreativity to find innovative, practical,common-sensesolutions to issues and problemsCollaborative nature with an others-centered attitude and the desire and the willingness to mentor and help others succeedDemonstrated ability to efficiently lead and complete projectsExceptional verbal and written communication skillsExperience with regulatory compliance and, in particular, differingtax regulations involved in international businessHighlevelof dependability witha strong senseof urgency and a results-oriented approachPractical, hands-on knowledge of computer-based information systems and their role in accounting functions and financial decision-makingTechnicalproficiencywith accounting standards, regulations, and financial reporting conceptsAbility to assess and analyze controls, processes, and operations to suggest and implement improvementsFully functional in Microsoft Office (particularly proficient in Excel),workingknowledge of data analytics in SQL andWorkdayreportingpreferred.Culture, Compensation, and Benefits:Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc.
