Job Opportunity: Full-Time Neonatal Physician Assistant

We are a physician-led multispecialty group with over 650 providers, currently seeking a Full-Time Neonatal Physician Assistant to join our dedicated team of 3 Neonatologists and 6 Neonatal Nurse Practitioners in the Boise metropolitan area.

About Our Facilities

Our 32-bed, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Boise provides exceptional care for more than 250 infants each year. We offer advanced treatments including conventional ventilation, inhaled nitric oxide (iNO), high-frequency oscillatory ventilation (HFOV), and jet ventilation for preterm and term infants. Our NICU is designed to serve families from Boise and surrounding regions in Idaho and eastern Oregon, ensuring expert neonatal care is accessible close to home.

The Saint Alphonsus Family Maternity Center sees over 1,400 deliveries annually and is supported by a highly skilled labor and delivery nursing team, an OB Hospitalist service, and 24-hour onsite anesthesia coverage. Our safety-focused team of OB/GYNs collaborates with Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists, Neonatologists, and genetic counselors to cater to the diverse needs of our patient population.

Additionally, our 4-bed, Level II NICU located in Nampa, just 15 miles west of Boise, is integrated with the Birkeland Maternity Center, which has an annual delivery rate exceeding 1,300 babies. This unit currently provides specialized care for newborns over 34 weeks gestation and weighing more than 1500 grams, with plans to expand to an 18-bed facility by 2028.

Our Approach

Committed to practicing the latest evidence-based medicine, our NICU teams emphasize a family-centered approach. We encourage collaboration between parents and our expert staff in both Boise and Nampa units to achieve outcomes that surpass national standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Attend high-risk deliveries and facilitate admissions to the NICU.
• Co-manage NICU patients alongside the attending Neonatologist and oversee well newborn nursery patients as needed.
• Engage in multidisciplinary rounds with the Neonatologist, implementing management strategies that may involve nutritional adjustments, ventilator management, lab and radiology reviews, and family updates.

Staffing Model and Schedule

• Level III, Boise: 16-hour shifts with in-house NNP coverage from 4 PM to 8 AM.
• Level II, Nampa: 24-hour shifts requiring a minimum of 4 hours onsite, with the remainder on-call, including well newborn coverage.
• A full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) requires 10 shifts per month, totaling 120 shifts annually.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

• Graduation from a Physician Assistant program with a neonatal fellowship or residency, or a minimum of 3 years of experience in a Level III/IV NICU.
• Current PA-C licensure and DEA registration, along with Idaho medical licensure and privileges at our Boise and Nampa facilities.
