Senior Accountant

Job TitleDuties and ResponsibilitiesAssist the Controller in producing accurate and timely financial statementsAssist in the month end closing and financial reporting process including account analysis and reconciliationAssist in special projects as necessaryAccurate and timely information for financial statement productionEnsure compliance with federal and state lawsPerformance analysis of operations that drive growth, strategy and profitability initiativesFinancial plans and forecasts are developed and variances are analyzed against plansProcessing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and expense reportsGeneral ledger detail review and proper creation of journal entries in a timely mannerEnsure inventory matches asset accountingCoordinating month-end and year-end reporting, preparing accruals and schedules, and submitting monthly and ad hoc financial reporting packages.Daily/Monthly P&L (Financial reporting)Post monthly journal entries (standard, accruals, and misc.)Corporate reporting and account reconciliations (analysis and variances)Ensure Intercompany balances at month endDownload and reconcile monthly outstanding checks from the bank to the balance sheetActuals/Forecast/BudgetOperational/Financial analysis - Repair & Maintenance meetings with GM/R&M Mgr. /Purchasing Mgr.Capital Expenditures (Fixed Assets)Operating LeasesCapital Spare Parts and inventoryAudit (External and Internal)Oversee/Monitor Finished Goods inventoryMeet with GM, Production Mgr. and/or Shipping Lead to discuss customer complaintsAnalyze freight charges from CL and track fuel surcharge rates weeklyThese duties are not limited to those listed here.LANGUAGE SKILLSExcellent communication skills. Able to read and interpret documents such as sales reports, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, training and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree in Accounting or Business - CPA certification is a plus.Minimum of 3 years of hands-large manufacturing accounting experience.Strong general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll working knowledge.Experience in assessing, analyzing and improving business performance.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.RequirementsStrong organizational and time management skills. Reacts well to time pressure, comfortable working in a plant environment and is motivated to learn all aspects of the manufacturing operation.Skills – Strong Excel spreadsheet working knowledge, Word, and PowerPoint.
