Salary: 111 - $ 35,884.00 minimum salary or as per Compensation Policy Promotional Method.

Distinguishing Features of the Position (Summary)

Performs maintenance and upkeep of all county pools and splash pads. Duties include installing, servicing and repairing swimming pool equipment, such as water filters, pumps, and water systems. Other responsibilities include vacuuming, mixing chemicals, testing water, and maintaining the appropriate balance of chlorine and pH in the water. This position works under the direct supervision of the Community Parks Foreman.

Essential Functions

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of the Community Parks pools and splash pads; Maintains and cleans the restrooms and deck areas; Performs periodic chemical testing and balancing of pool and splash pad water to ensure public health and safety. Other duties such as mowing, weed eating, trash collection and custodial duties will be required.

Communicates on daily basis with the Community Parks Foreman, Assistant Foreman and/or Special Projects Administrator on status of pools and splash pads or any other ongoing projects.

Additional Functions

Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED, with two (2) years of experience as a Maintenance Technician or semi-skilled position, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License.

Must be a Certified Pool Operator or be able to obtain certification within the 6-month probationary period from date of hire.

Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert medium physical effort in medium work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of medium weight (20-50 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motion at a keyboard or work station.

Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.

Environmental Factors: Essential functions are regularly performed with exposure to adverse environmental conditions.

This is a Civil Service covered position. Testing requirements will follow section 2.32 of the Civil Service Rules and Regulations Handbook. Probationary period will follow section 2.35 of the Civil Service Rules and Regulations Handbook.
