Ultrasound Technologist

Overview This full‑time Ultrasound Technologist position is based at Fishers Hospital. The scheduled hours are Monday – Thursday from 6 a–4:30 p, and participation in call coverage is required (weekday, weekend, and holiday rotations). In this role, you’ll perform a wide range of general ultrasound exams, including limited vascular studies, pediatrics, OB, and procedural support. Because students regularly rotate through the department, a collaborative mindset and strong team spirit are essential. Candidates must actively hold RDMS or RVT certification. Responsibilities Provides diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound to generate images of patients’ internal organs, tissues, and blood flow. Responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment. Evaluates images for diagnostic quality and makes necessary adjustments to capture the best possible images. Collaborates with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to provide accurate diagnostic information. Ensures patient safety and comfort during procedures by explaining the process, positioning patients correctly, and adjusting equipment as needed. Familiar with current scan protocols. Maintains compliance with high level disinfection practices. Assists with minimally invasive procedures as needed. Possesses familiarity with ultrasound contrast indications and administration practices. Provides intraoperative ultrasound as requested. Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required. Ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning. For ACR accredited ultrasound departments: active status through one of the following – RDMS: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer – Abdomen (RDMS(AB)), Obstetrics & Gynecology (RDMS(OB/GYN)), Pediatric Sonography (RDMS(PS)), or Registered Vascular Technologist – Vascular Technology (RVT(VT)); ARRT: Registered Technologist – Sonography (RT(S)) or Vascular Sonography (RT(VS)); or CCI: Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS). If performing breast ultrasound only, requires credential through ARDMS (RDMS(BR)) or ARRT (RT(S)(BS)) or Radiography (RT(R)(M)(BS)) within 18 months of hire. For non‑ACR accredited ultrasound departments: must be actively pursuing ultrasound education and have already passed the ARDMS physics boards, or must have graduated from an ultrasound education program; requires certification through one of the methods mentioned above within 12 months of hire. May be required to meet registry/certification requirements for another modality, if applicable. May require license from Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH), if applicable.
