Position Overview The overall aim of this project is to develop gene drive strains for suppression of the New World screwworm. In the initial phase of the project we will work secondary screwworm, a very closely related species. We will work with primary screwworm in ACL3 containment at a later date, if an import permit is granted. Responsibilities Work closely with Dr Amarish Yadav in developing docking lines for phiC31 recombinase. Use these lines to create fsRIDL gene drive strains, building on earlier work with fsRIDL lines. Contribute to maintaining the lab and keep detailed notes in the lab book. Present at lab meetings and meetings with the sponsor. Requirements and Qualifications PhD in molecular biology, genetics, entomology or related discipline. Ph.D. with less than five years postdoctoral experience essential. Experience in genetics is desired. Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
