The successfulcandidate will teach students the distinct approaches for stage andcamera acting: upper division acting for the camera TH 345 and TH448 preparing students for the film industry with acting techniquesand business guidance (resumes, headshots, agents, managers,auditions, self-tapes), TH 108A preparing majors with foundationalstage acting technique, as well as other courses as needed by thedepartment including TH208A and TH 111 for non-majors. This is anin-person teaching position. The ideal candidate will continue to develop professionalexpertise, and maintain an active, creative practice. We seek acandidate with a proven track record of creating work and/orparticipating in programs that foster and promote equity,inclusion, and representation, especially relevant to our diversestudent population. Other desirable teaching skills may include performance forEmerging Media Performance (e.g. performance capture, gaming,virtual production), voice-over, intimacy coaching, directingstudent productions. In addition to teaching, the position requires weekly office hours,attending faculty meetings, participation in assessment of studentlearning, and service to the department, college, and university.The successful candidate may be required to teach on weekdays,evenings, weekends, and/or online and will be held to the standardsand requirements of the college and department in which he/she/theyis/are housed for recommending tenure and promotion. Required Qualifications An M.F.A. degree in Acting or a related field from anaccredited institution, foreign equivalency or post-baccalaureateexperience, training, and expertise at least equivalent to thoserequired for the Master of Fine Arts degree. Experience teaching in-person stage acting at theuniversity/college level, or equivalent professional performancetraining programs. Experience teaching in-person camera acting at theuniversity/college level, or equivalent professional performancetraining programs. Professional experience in both fields of stage and film/TVacting Preferred Qualifications Proficiency in 2 or more acting methods and their applicationto stage and camera (Stanislavski, Meisner, Chekhov, Barr, Moss,Chubbuck, etc.). Additional experience in one or more of these specialties: Emerging Media Performance (e.g. performance capture, gaming,virtual production) Voice-over Intimacy Coaching Directing student productions Evidence of designing curriculum that prepares students forcontemporary professional practice Teaching or Professional experience that includes working witha diverse student body or leading groups of people from diversebackgrounds. Experience or potential for creating a student-centeredlearning environment, such as community engagement, inclusiveprofessional development, active learning strategies, culturallyrelevant pedagogy, curriculum development, etc. Experience participating in inclusive approaches to mentoring,such as minority centered mentorship with community-based artsprograms, leadership roles, or engagement with minority servingorganizations, etc. Application Deadline Preferred application deadline is September 18,2026 and applications received after this date may beconsidered on an as needed basis.
