About Tender Bridge Tender Bridge is a Baltimore-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to helpingat-risk young people navigate adolescenceon the path to successful, self-sustaining adulthood through the vehicle of sport - primarily ice hockey - as well as mentorship, enrichment, and individual engagement. We work to reduce barriers and create opportunitiesbybuilding consistent relationships, introducing participants to new experiences, developing life skills, and connecting them with positive mentors and community resources. About the Role Tender Bridge is seeking a Program Director to help lead and expand our programming. This person will play a hands-on role in creating meaningful experiences for our participants, with primary responsibility for the Jr Banners cohort (ages 9–14) andadditionalinvolvement with our older cohorts, serving participants ages 15–25. This is an ideal role for someone who is energetic, organized, dependable, proactive, and passionate about working with young people . The Program Director will spendsignificant timein the community andacross the greater Baltimore area, coordinating volunteers and partners, communicating with families, and making sure programsare runsmoothlyand effectively. The Program Director will help develop and execute a comprehensive programming calendar that goes well beyond hockey.Additionalactivities include sailing, hiking, mountain biking, field trips, outdoor adventures, cultural experiences, educational enrichment, mentorship dinners, career exposure, and other opportunities that broaden our participants' experiences and connections. You do not need to know how to play or coach hockey to be successful in this role. Enthusiasm for positive development,enrichmentand relationship building are the key factors for an ideal candidate. Common activities include but are not limited to: Ice Hockey Sailing Hiking Field trips Other outdoor recreation Cultural and educational experiences Career and life-skills programming Education support Key Responsibilities Programming & Engagement Lead day-to-day programming for the Jr Banners cohort of participants ages 9 – 14and, asappropriate, cross-cohort programming with our15 - 25 year oldparticipant cohort. Develop andmaintaina comprehensive calendar of sports, enrichment, mentorship, and community activities. Recruit, engage, andretainparticipants. Build positive, consistent relationships with participants and their families. Help create a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and encouraging environment for all participants. Identifyopportunities that expose participants to new experiences, interests, careers, communities, and possibilities. Support participants in overcoming barriers to participation and engagement. Develop and coordinateevents,practices, games, tournaments, and related activities. Work with community organizations, schools, sports programs, businesses, and other partners toidentifyand create new opportunities for Tender Bridge participants. Coordinate coaches, mentors, drivers, event volunteers, and other community supporters. Build andmaintainstrong relationships with Tender Bridge's volunteer community. Program Logistics & Operations Coordinate transportation for participants and volunteers. Arrange meals and refreshments forpractices, games, events, and other programming. Coordinate schedules with rinks, facilities, coaches, partners, families, and volunteers. Maintainaccurateprogram calendars and communicate schedules and changesin a timely manner. Help manage Tender Bridge equipment inventory, including organizing, distributing, collecting, andmaintainingequipment. Assistwith loading, unloading, transporting, and moving program equipment and supplies. Ensure that programs are adequately staffed, supplied, and prepared before activities begin. Help ensure all programming follows Tender Bridge policies and appropriate safety practices. Communication & Community Engagement Maintain consistent andtimelycommunication with participants, families, volunteers, partners, and Tender Bridge leadership. Be highly responsive and active on email and other communication platforms. Promote Tender Bridge programs, activities, and accomplishments through social media and other channels. Help tell the Tender Bridge story by capturing and sharingappropriate photos, updates, and highlights from programming. Represent Tender Bridge professionally and positively in the Baltimore community. Develop strong relationships with community partners and serve as an outstanding ambassador for the organization. Other Responsibilities Supportspecial events, fundraisers, tournaments, and other organizational activities. Participate in regular planning and coordination meetings. Track program needs andidentifyopportunities to improve the participant experience. Take on other responsibilities as needed to support Tender Bridge's mission. Able to lift, carry, load, and move equipment and supplies. Valid driver's license and ability to reliably traveland transport participantsto program locations in Baltimore and surrounding areas. Preferred Experience Experience working with young people, particularly from underserved or disadvantaged communities. Experience in positive development, education, recreation, sports, mentoring, social services, or community programming. Experience coordinating events or programs. Familiarity with trauma-informed approachesforworking with young people. Experience working with community-based organizations or nonprofits. Experience with social media and community outreach. Familiarity with ice hockey or other sports ishelpful, butnotrequired. What Success Looks Like A successful Program Director will: Show up. Compensation & Schedule This is a part-time independent contractor position with a starting annual compensation of $20,000 , negotiable based on experience and qualifications. The majority ofprogramming and work will take place on weekends , particularly during the hockey season, with some weekday responsibilities related to planning, communication, scheduling, partnerships, and program administration. Because our programsoperatearound participant activities and community events, the successful candidate must have flexibility and be willing to work outside of traditional Monday–Friday business hours.
